My brother had asthma when he was younger. We used to lay him stomach-down over our legs and pound on his chest to help release the fluid in his lungs. He's since grown out of that problem, thank goodness as it made him extremely sick.
Do EVERYTHING your doctor tells you to do. Asthma can be dangerous if not taken seriously. I'm not sure where you live, but there are several things you can do that might help the situation. If you have curtains in your home, consider getting blinds. Dust frequently and if you're in the south, keep the cockroach situation under control. Cockroaches are notorious triggers of allergies/asthma. You may want to reconsider pets as their fur/dander can be a trigger. Finally, if anyone smokes in your home, they must stop immediately. Just smoking outside the home is not enough. My brother would have an attack just from the smell of smoke on clothes. Besides, it's healthier for all if you do!
I wanted to wish you guys lots of luck as well! And as it was said before, asthma is a very serios situation. I developed asthma 3 years ago at age 25 when I was pregnant with my daughter! My daughter also has astma. When I was pregnant I had the coughing asthma. I would cough every single night all night long to the point that I could not breathe. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Thanks - I hope he will too grow out of it. He just coughs so much that I feel so bad for him. I have been trying to do some research on the subject however, all I can find is the other asthma. From what my DR. tells me this is a bit diffrent. We go back to her next week and I will then get more info. I was just so shocked, when she said it was asthma, a rare form that most kids don't get. I didn't know what to ask, other than what the heck is it. How do we treat it? She gave him some medicine but it's not working so far.
