I feel so proud, I could bust! My 5 year old sat down last night and read me a book by himself for the first time - green eggs and ham. As he turned each page, I could see his eyes lighting up ... he stopped after a few pages and gave me a huge hug. He said "Mom, I'm really a reader". He was so excited!

I've been there on all the firsts, walking, bike riding, swimming but for some reason this is REALLY special. I was in awe watching him - right before my eyes his self esteem took a huge puff and HE finally believed he was a reader. Sniff! Sniff!

I am so lucky and very happy to be able to be here for my two boys in all they do and be here for things they need.

isnt that SOOOOO cool. my oldest and middle dd both read at 4...with ease...... my middle dd is an AWESOME reader.there is no word she cant read...... BUT... she hates it....i dont know what i have done wrong.... but she hates it...... my baby....is 7.and she learned to read at 5...she is much slower then her sisters, but average and picking it up very fast... keep the love for reading alive in him.. i have tried everything i can to make reading fun.... let her pick out her own books,, the subjects she likes..... still no go........ she does like to sit and read the encyclopedia.which is not bad by no mean........but gosh i would love for her to read A GOOD story..... one like i read when i was a kid..... the ones that made ya feel allllll good inside....lol.. maybe some day.... it's a fine line..... enjoy it....... keep him going.......

That is AWESOME!! It is so neat to be able to see all they are doing. I can't wait to be able to homeschool my child and hear her read for the first time. :)

They have nonfiction books for young readers. Maybe that would be more your DD's cup of tea? I have a nephew that HATES fiction, but LOVES non-fiction! My DD has just now descovered the joy of non-fictions (but much preffers the fiction though). Our library has non-fiction books about volcanoes, each states, you name it!! Reading is reading. ;) Encourage her to have passion for reading, whatever type it might be. It's all good. :D
