here is the story,, we have a wedding to go to this weekend, we are looking forward to it, but the bride and groom called us tonight to ''ASK'' us if we were coming to the church? I mean I know it's not a big deal but I just think it's odd that the bride and groom would be calling people to ask them if they were

Had you already RSVP'd ?? There is no doubt that they knew you are coming to the wedding ?? Is the church unusually small ?? Is it supposed to be outdoors but the weather might be bad so they are thinking of a tent ?? I honestly have never heard of such a thing. Maybe they got a lot of yeses for the reception, but no, on the church ?? I could never imagine saying such a thing to a couple but I guess in this day and age anything might be possible. I'd chalk it up to jitters. A bride plans for this day for a long time and maybe she wants to have control over every detail.

I am not sure about this one, never had that happen when I was invited to a wedding.
Did you ask the reasons for them calling and asking you?

No It was weird the groom called and asked for my dh,, so I hear my dh say yes we were planning on it,, now they only asked if we were coming to the church, they knew we were coming to the reception. So he starts to tell my dh where it is,, then the bride grabs the phone and starts with the directions too. We never asked where it was. The church is big and it is inside. I just thought it was very tacky but I thought maybe it was just me, I can be that way! I know the only reason they called was cause they wanted to see how many or who was coming to the church but I think they should just see when that day arrives. Hmmmm!

Hi!

I agree that it's really tacky that they called. BUT people often (at least here in MI) rsvp and then only come to the reception (extremely tacky as well, imo). People think that attending the ceremony is optional (and rsvp cards usually don't have a box to check for the church seperately from the reception).

The only thought I have is that maybe they are planning something at the church that they would like to know the # for....like birdseed packets to hand out or flowers for the ladies. But it could just be a case of bridezilla! I got married 5 years ago but the stress of it all is still pretty fresh in my mind!

Thanks,

melissa

I'm with everyone else! I've never been in that situation so without you asking why they wanted to know, we can only speculate! I'd just chalk it up to the bride's jitters. When the bride is under pressure, there's no telling what some will do!

Thanks glad to know I wasn't crazy but I didn't ask them why they were asking me cause I thought that too would have been odd,, and I know that they are only asking because they are nervous but still?,, Thanks!
