That title cracks me up. How many stay-at-home moms actually stay at home all the time? We are usually on the go, but today is our stay-home day and it would seem that Mondays would be less hectic. However, my 9-month-old is eating a box of kleenex and my son is always asking me, "Mooommmm play choo-choo trains! NOw! I have come to dislike choo choo trains! They are all over my house. I know all the Thomas characters and we talk about them like they're family members. I want to chuck Thomas!

I was started to think I was alone out there. Thanks for the welcome. We're in the middle of lunch so things are a little hectic I have a 3-year-old and a 9-month-old and two mischeivious little dogs. I love em all, and it is rewarding to be a stay-at-home mom, but it gets a little out-of-control sometimes dont ya think?

Did anyone see Desperate Housewives last night? Man, that was intense! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go to that extreme but sometimes I do feel like I am losing my mind. I was taking pictures a few minutes ago because my baby had blueberry puree all over her face and my son wanted to take a picture of mommy so I said ok. (I helped him of course). so we took the picture and I saw in the the display myself and how I looked! It was scary! I did manage to get dressed today but I hadn't looked in the mirror all day and I was shocked by what I saw! I look like crap. I use to be pretty a long, long, time ago. I miss looking pretty. Oh well. I know all about cherrishing the days while they're young and I do as much as I can, but sometimes I feel like telling people who tell me that to shove it! Anyone got the same opinion?

Welcome to the board.
My name is Mel. I am 24 years old and a sahm of 4 years to my sons, Andrew and Dalton.
I like the "I want to chuck Thomas" comment. My son was once into those things and I had them all over the place. Thank goodness for ebay, they are out of here now that he has moved on to bigger and better toys, like mini soldiers and tanks ugh

I am new to this board. When I read what mymygetup said "That title cracks me up. How many stay-at-home moms actually stay at home all the time?" and also what mommybeetx said "LOL I agree 'Stay at home mom' is a bit misleading :)" I was a bit upset, there are some of us who actually do stay home with their children all the time, I am actually one of them with 4 children ages 8,6,4, and 1. My husband and I have only one car and he has to have the car during the day since he travels around the city with his job so I do stay home with my kids all day long all week cleaning the house, doing things with the kids, cooking all week long "doing the typical SAHM thing" and it isn't easy to say the least.
So before you say something like that again I would suggest thinking about it a bit harder because not everyone is like you constantly outside of the house doing different things every day some of us don't have a choice.

From a lurker: Well wether you stay at home all the time or not I think the term sounds lazy. Obviously SAHM's are NOT lazy (completely the opposite), but to me it has always sounded that way. When someone asks me what I do I say I'm a full time mom or if they ask me if I work I say, "Yes, I have the hardest and best job I've ever had. I'm a full time mom", cuz I just can't stand the term SAHM. It usually makes people think. Just my 2 cents....

hmmm...I am not quite sure why you would pick my particular post out of this thread to pick on, but okay:)

I do not feel that anything was said that was remotely offensive in anyway. And as some friendly advice you should really get to know people on a board before you make a post like that. Let me tell you a little of my day. First I am not only a SAHM which is hard enough but I am also a homeschooling mom who homeschools two boys ages seven and three while also caring for my 17month old nephew mon-fri. I wake up at 5:45 every morning to get in some time to myself. My children are usually up at 6:30 at which time I make breakfast. I have a VERY high needs three year old who usually has me exhausted by 8am but I love being home so I keep going. The style of homeschooling we practice is called "school at home" which means my children do not do independent work at a kitchen table while I go about my day...it means I am in the school room with my seven year old from 8:30 to 2:00 in between that time I am caring for my three year old, my 17 month old nephew my home(it doesn't clean itself) preparing lunches and dinner, giving naps, and the many numerous things a stay at home mom does. Like you my family only has one car-a minivan that I have to make a schedule with my Dh to make sure I can get out of the house for the things I NEED to do. Because we are homeschoolers we have p.e outside our home at a park. I am the founder of a homeschool group so I am also the spokesperson and need to attend most events such as craft days, sports days, field trips and book clubs.

I MIGHT have understood if the post has said "Gosh I know what you mean, I am always on the go in my bmw at the mall 24/7 while my maid is at home scrubbing my house".

I really wish you would get to know the people on the board and their situations before you made a post such as you did. I am trying not to be offended since you do not know me.

I am Traci btw. SAHM/Homeschooling mom of two boys. Married for eight years to my wonderful Dh..it is nice to meet you :)

The post was not a personal attack on YOU I was just making a point contrary to yours stating the fact that there are actually SAHM's that stay at home all day for at least 6 days out of the week. I was giving another point of view of those who DO stay at home and NEVER get out of the house I was not implying that YOU have a BMW and go to the mall while your maid scrubs your house. You also do not know me or my situation. I am type 1 Diabetic and have been for 26 years (take 4 shots a day testing blood sugars at least 6 times a day) and I even take care of my children when my bloodsugars are so low that most people would be in the hospital that alone exhausts me and let me tell you that is not at all easy to deal with with 4 children a lot of the times by myself because I do not have my husband here with me a lot at night because he is in the IT field I also have a 6 year old daughter that is ADHD and is also very high needs.
I am Renee have been a SAHM for 8 years and married for 9 years with 4 very healthy children.
