non-stop crying 13 month old

I really need some input here. My 13 month old son is driving me crazy. He wakes up early every day between 5 and 6 am. My rule is 6 is the bare minimum for wake up time. I will not get him out of bed until 6 am. Then he naps from 9:30 until 11, and again from 3 until 4:30 except the last couple weeks when he has woken up from both naps after 45 minutes and will not go back to sleep. This is the hard part after he wakes up in the afternoon he cries and cries no matter what I do until magicly he stops about an hour before bedtime at 8. Nothing will stop him from crying except tv. My husband says turn it on then, but he already watch 1.5 hours while I am trying to get moving and dressed in the morning. It's just too much tv for a 13 month old. I end up having to put him down and walk away sometimes I get so upset and tired of listening to him cry. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? My son is VERY strong willed, and everything is a challenge getting him to eat, to drink milk, to sleep. I am so tired and hope someone could suggest something to make him stop crying. Thanks!!!

I agree that that is too much tv for a young child, BUT, if that is all that makes him happy, then why not make the tv watching educational?
I let my 12 month watch Baby Einstien. He loves them and he learns from it. Its not too much for his little brain.
