I have one for you, be careful. Do not give your password to anyone, not even to a link from ebay. Always go to their site yourself and do it that way.
Good luck with selling.

I am referring to the password you use to log on and do anyhitng with your ebay account.
My mom got a email once saying they were ebay asking her to follow a link to make sure her password and Credit Card info was correct.
The thing is, the link looks like it is to ebay but it is not, its just to send your info to someone who will in turn use it to sell things under your name, and steal your credit card info.
I was just saying if you ever get a email from anyone, also go to the site yourself, never follow a link.

Hi Denise,
I'm not sure what kind of advice you're looking for, but I've sold several things on Ebay and it's been alot of fun. It's like cleaning out your closets and getting paid at the same time : ) I've had the most luck with kids items (clothing, shoes, toys, books). If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them. I think there was also a similar post awhile back and someone gave some great advice...you might want to try a search on this board.
Good luck!

I have found that when I sell something and start the list price too high I won't get many people looking at it. But when I start the price lower more people have looked and bid and I have always gotten enough money. Plus when I am buying something the things that get my attention more are ones that have gallery pictures. So to me that is worth the extra quarter or whatever they charge you.

I need tons of advice!
Should I accept CC payments?
Flat rate shipping or shipping calculator?
How many pictures is enough?
What are the hot ticket items?
What kinds of stuff doesn't sell?
Should I accept bids from people with little or no or negative feedback?

There is some starter questions!

Should I accept CC payments? I only accept credit card payments if the final sale(s) are over 10.00. My reason is because paypal charges the seller a fee for CC payments.

Flat rate shipping or shipping calculator? I use flat rate and give shipping on larger items at the end of austions!

How many pictures is enough? I usually on give onem, it depends on the item.

What are the hot ticket items? That varies dfrom one day to the next on Ebay. I had an item that 6 people were fighting over, sold for WAY more than I ever imagined. I put another one up the following week....NOT ONE BID. So it basically is, your guess is as good as anyone elses. Clothing does fairly well almost all the time!

What kinds of stuff doesn't sell? WHO knows, some people have bought dryer lint.

Should I accept bids from people with little or no or negative feedback? I accept bids from them, but NEVER a personal check and do NOT ship anything until their payment has cleared. I do accept personal checks from people, my stipulation is this: YOU MUST HAVE AT ELAST 50 FEEDBACK AND ALL YOUR FEEDBACK MUST BE POSITIVE!

ALWAYS List the information that the BUYER pays all shipping and handling charges. ALWAYS state how long you will wait for payment before filing a non paying bidder with ebay and relisting the item.
ALWAYS list that you are NOT responsible once an item is shipped, and that you highly reccomend INS! I have only had one item not reach it's buyer and gladly sent the buyer another one. (I make paper pieceings and sell them on ebay)This buyer had bought over a dozen of my pieces over a few months and only one that did not arrive, so I made her another one and sent it.

A few more questions if you don't mind!
People keep telling me not to accept CC payments because they get charged a fee, how much is it and is it worth it?
What are echecks and fund transfers? Do these have a fee? What type of paypal account to you need to accept this type of payment?
What does paypal existing funds mean?

People keep telling me not to accept CC payments because they get charged a fee, how much is it and is it worth it? The fee is a percentage of the sale, I believe 5%, paypal FAQ's will answer that, I may be wrong on the %. The fee is why I only accept them for payments of 10.00 or more and usually add.50 to the total for that fee. If you only have a regular paypal acct. you can't accept credit cards. I had that for over 3 years, and it was never a problem, for any of my buyers.

What are echecks and fund transfers? Do these have a fee? What type of paypal account to you need to accept this type of payment? A regular paypal acct can accept the e-checks and fund transfers. There is a holding time for those and paypal will let you know when they have cleared. E-checks are a check that someone writes from their acct. to yours, the fund transger is to transfer funds from your checking to your paypal, or from your checking to another paypal acct. to pay for an item Again, paypal will send you an email letting you know when these clear. They ususally take up to 4 days to clear.

What does paypal existing funds mean? this is the money that is actually in your paypal acct. This is money you can use to pay for an auction, pay your ebay fees with or transfer to your checking acct.

Please feel free to ask away if there is anything else you need!

You only pay the CC % fee on what the auction close price is, not on the shipping- right?
So you now have the premier account?
What do you accept for under $10.00?
This is just me personally, but when I want to buy an item, I want it then too! I would never bid on an item that only accepts money order or personal checks. I would think by doing this for any amount would make you have less bidders- right?
Where is the cheapest place to ship? Is one place better than another?
How would you pay for an item using existing funds? Doesn't whatever money you make selling an item go into your checking account or check card?

I'm so lost- I know!
