My dd has been feverish for the last few days (between 100 - 102.3f) She has been drooling alot, and pulling at her two empty teeth spaces on her bottom jaw. There are little lumps in there, so I know something is coming. She refuses to eat or sleep...oh joy!!!
Tonight I noticed she know has a mysterious black eye! Where in the world did that come from???? She has a ton of new toys (whcih of course are scattered everywhere!) But I don't recall her falling or hitting herself on anything. She has cried at the usuall times today, like nap time, and bedtime when we attempted to lie down with her, then gave up, lol. Now her and I are up for the night! Where do these things come from???
How embarassing...I have friends from out of town coming over tomorrow, they haven't seen her in person in almost 1 year, I hope they don't think we did it! Can I ice it? Will it make a difference? My poor babe!

Teething will bring on fever and boogies galore!!! Just give her some Tylenol/Motrin/Advil, you can try alternating them too sometimes that eases it a bit more than just one of them, and some cool rings to chew on or even a wash cloth cooled in the fridge.
As for the shiner - you could probably try to ice it but don't think she'll let you =} Is it like a real black eye or more of an undereye circle? My children get allergy shiner's and sometimes they look like black eyes - especially at that age.
Good luck and your friends should understand cranky babies are trying.

About the black eye, could have been anything with them being so young. They throw, hit, fall, she probably just did it while alone and didnt make a big deal about it when it happened.
Have fun with your guests.
