Kid safe trash cans?!

I am having a heck of a time keeping my toddler out of our trash can! It is a $10 plastic bin with a swinging lid and he is constantly putting his toys and the tupperware and whatever else he can find in there! He can also take the entire lid off. I have looked around and can't find anything under $50 that would meet my needs! I am limited on space (only have 14 inches in diameter of floor space for a trash can) and don't want to put one under the sink because it would have to be small. Does anyone have any thoughts? I have already tried a step can and the stepper mechanism to lift the lid broke after a couple of months, so I don't want to go that route unless I have to. Thanks for your ideas!

I know they have some for toliet bowls>
If they don.t, do you have a panrty closet to put the trash can innthere? That is what we do, to keep him out of it.
Good luck.
well, I'm not sure how small exactly they make them, but rubbermaid makes trash cans that have locking lids. We finally got rid of the "waste basket" sized one for the same reasons that you mentioned--the twins threw my husband's entire cd collection away one day, and that was the final straw LOL! The rubbermaid that we bought is a little larger, but the to open the lid, you have to turn it, sort of like a child safety lid, and then lift straight up. It also keeps stinkies inside, not leaking out. . . It wasn't very expensive, either, so that's a plus. :)

I forgot to mention that it came from Lowe's. . . They have a huge rubbermaid selection, so try there if there's one close enought to you!
