PP hair loss & bad doctor, no lollipop

Okay, I know hair falling out is sometimes part of the deal PP but please...I think I've lost a lot of hair, so much so that I'm thinking of having my thyroid (?) tested. Am I all worked up over nothing? Probably, but did anyone else have a worrisome amount of hair loss? I'm not seeing bald patches but it is clearly thinner and more than one hair comes out at a time.
Which brings me to the doctor issue, I need to find a new one, I thought mine was good but my last visit with her was a trip, she gave me exactly two minutes of her precious time and basically said the following: that the hair loss is normal, there was nothing she could do or check as far as the fibroids the OB found during my C section, that I should stop breastfeeding for awhile to bring my AF back (I never said I wanted it back and why would I stop feeding my baby? HELLO)...though she did give me a Rx for vaginal dryness, WHAT? She checked nothing, I didn't even get on the table.
I promise I'm not a hypochondriac, I just like to be reassured that I'm healthy occasionally, especially now that I have children. Thanks for reading, I feel better already!

I saw her a few times when I first moved here from the city (my city doc moved away too, I would have made the effort to keep seeing her otherwise).
Before I got pregnant my current doc was very liberal and thorough so render me disappointed and baffled by the whole experience. Thanks for the kind response.
Someone who bills me $80 for 2 minutes of her time would not be getting a christmas card from me.
Michele, after I had my twins, my hair fell out like crazy for about a year. I'm married to a doctor, and asked him to check my thyroid, too, because I had pulled up info on-line about hair loss possibly being related to thyroid problems. He insisted I was fine, and that it was hormones returning from the pregnancy. Now he is not an OB, but this is the way he explained it to me: he said that when you're pregnant, the pregnancy hormones can inhibit your hair falling out, so that after you give birth, all the hair that would have fallen out during pregnancy had you not been pregnant, then falls out for months, like you're shedding. He also said sometimes if you're breastfeeding, or didn't eat enough when you were pregnant, a low calorie consumption (meaning the baby's getting more of your calories than you are) can cause hair loss. He never did draw my blood for a thyroid test.
I lost sooooo much hair. Handfuls whenever I showered. I would show him and say "You're telling me this is NORMAL??" He assured me I was fine, and told me even without any pregnancy, or hormonal influence, it's normal to lose up to 100 hairs/day. We're mammals, we shed, LOL!!
At first I got worried that I would have thinning hair or it would start to show, but it never did, and I can honestly tell you that my hair is thicker than ever, and I still lose a lot every time I shower. So I doubt you have anything to worry about.
As far as the doctor goes: CHANGE!! She sounds like she doesn't give a crap about her patients. She sounds like she has no bedside manner, doesn't know or care what she's talking about, and can't be bothered. She sounds like an embarrassment to the medical profession. And she certainly doesn't deserve your insurance payment and co-pay!!
Good luck to you,
Sofia
I agree with you finding another dr that will take the time to listen and see you, thats what they are there for and getting paid for.
I also am not sure about the hair thing.
I lost a lot of hair with all my kids and a lot at one time for omnths. If you are concerned, have it looked at by someone who can help you.
Holy Cow! You definitely need a new doc! What a flake!
I lost a lot of hair pp, too. It's so annoying, but I wouldn't sweat it too much.

i just wanted to input that I lost alot of hair and also had alot of hair breakage after giving birth to my daughter. It was partly due to BBfeeding and also pulling my hiar back on the time! However if you are concerned than find a new dr and request the test. Tell them it is making you anxious and that you just want the piece of mind. Good luck!

Thank you Jennifer, that's reassuring. I just lost a lot in this a.m.'s shower but I'm freaking out less thanks to these nice responses. I intend to BF for several more months...we'll see if I still have any left! I bought scrunchies (LOL) at Target, they seem to help with the breakage/ripping. Have a good day!
:o)
I had a lot as well...my husband was even complaining about the drain clogging up and we had to get one of those snake things to get the hair out. I don't think it would be as much as you think, but if it would make you feel better, I would ask the doctor about it. It is always better to be at peace than to be worrying.
Hugs,
Sarah
