My kids started school today. Matthew liked his teacher after all, even though he had heard from the neighbor kids who went before him that she was "The Mean Third Grade Teacher." He had a good first day! But I was a little surprised he already came home with homework! My DH said "They don't waste any time, do they?"
And my younger DS Justin started kindergarten!! Wow! I can't believe it. I was a little emotional seeing him onto the bus, but not as bad as I thought I would be. He looked so cute, too, in his little plaid shirt and jeans. And he came home and said he liked his teacher and had fun, and made a little friend named Robbie :)
My DH took the day off (it was going to be just the morning, and then he decided to stay home the whole day and hang with me), and he videotaped Justin and Matthew getting on the bus together. Then we went to breakfast with the girls. I asked Tessa if she's ready for school yet (they'll be 3 on Sunday), and she said she's not going to go to school (ever). I said "What if you get to wear pretty shoes?" (She has a thing about shoes, and walks around looking at her feet). She shook her head and said she'd rather wear her pretty shoes at home. . . Hmm. . .
So they're back at school, the pool's closed as of yesterday, and it's getting dark earlier. . . Fall's heading in!

I love this time of year! It's so fun to hear the stories the kids bring home from school. Ian let me know today that his table was the loudest table in art today and they had to be in the back of the line, lol. I was actually pleased by this, he's obviously having a good time and making friends.
Nikki is getting a lot of homework in 3rd grade!! I don't know if we ever did. It reminds me of that line in Billy Madison "social studies, division?! This is gonna be hard!"
I hope your kids continue to have great school days!
Mwah!!

LOL, your dd is so cute and very smart about the shoe thing.
Glad to hear they both had good days at school.
I'm so glad your day went as planned.
