Any ideas?

I have a six week old little girl who is so unconsolable the last couple of days.
I have taken her to the doctor and was told that she too has the virus that my boys had. Unfortunately, she doesn't seem to be getting better. She is running a temp 99.5 and isn't wanting to sleep, or eat. I took her to the doc this morning, because I just knew it was her ears, but they tell me that those look fine. She just isn't happy no matter what I am doing for her. I have been walking the floor with her, rocking, we've tried bouncy seats, swings, laying her on her tummy, vapor baths, sitting in the bathroom with a steamy shower to try to open her up, using that lovely nasal suction that they give you at the hospital (which by the way really makes her mad). I am just fresh out of ideas. Any help greatly appreciated.

I am assuming she has a runny nose? Are you sure it is the cold that is bothering her? Is she breastfed? I only ask because there could be a lot of other issues to consider with a 6 week old baby. ((Hugs)) to you and baby.

Nope not breastfed anymore...hasn't been since about 3 weeks. Yep, runny nose--green slimy stuff. Low grade temps--dr. told me to give her Tylenol 0.4 ml, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Very congested sounding. Regular diapers wets and stools.

My little guy (another August Bumblebee) is just getting over a cold with similar symptoms. My ped suggested nasal saline, like Little Noses, to help with the congestion. Worked great. We also had him sleep exclusively in his car seat to keep him semi-upright for drainage, and ran a humidifier in his room.

Another thing you could ask your doc is whether you can use Vics Vapo Rub.

Her temp is up to 102 now, so...he is making me bring her back in for blood work. Here's hoping it's not something too serious!

Okay...here's what doc says this afternoon. They are thinking she might have a UTI. How the heck does a baby girl get a UTI? I thought that was something that only adult girls got. Anyway, I have to collect urine from her. That should be fun to try to do with a 6 week old. He did some blood work on her too this afternoon and tells me he will call me when they get the urine results back.
