oh Chrissy, I'm so sorry. Poor little guy. I guess the one good thing about it is that hopefully when this is all over and done with, then he will be feeling better and wont have all those infections. You will all be in my prayers.
I'm so sorry that you guys are having to go thru this!!!! ((((HUGS))))
This is a big deal to a mom! This is your baby so, please don't think that I am making light of your situation when I say this (I hope that this may put your mind at ease), but Abbie had ear infections every 7 days for 10 months (6-16 months), then about every 3-5 weeks from the time she was 16 months old until she was 3. That is no exageration. Her ENT is the top peds ENT in Portland, Oregon and he took her adenoids at 16 months and put her 3rd set of tubes in at the same time. I too thought that it was a bit rushed and was against it at first It was harder on me that is was on her, I promise. She was fussy for about 4-5 hours then she was her old self. She had her tonsils out 2 weeks before her 3rd birthday and had her 6th set of tubes in. That one was harder, she was down for about 5 days. But, she has had 3 OM's (otitis media, ear infections...you may here this term at the hospital) since. The adenoidectomy slowed her OM's down to about 1 every 3-5 weeks. These doc's have PE tube (ear tube) surgries down so good that most kids only have to have laughing gas when they get the tubes!
I had this surgery done 23 years ago when I was 4, and the worst thing was getting my blood drawn. I had a sore throat, but that was about it. My mom had a harder time than I did.
I hope that I did not offend you by comparing what I went through (which looking back was not a huge deal) to what you are facing. I remember being so scared that I could not take her into the prep area, my mom had to...plus Abbie wanted Grandma, not me! I just hope that helps a little.
My BF's son just got tubes in his ears last week, she was a wreck over it but she said it was a quick surgery and he was also able to go home the same day, and you wouldn't have known he'd had the tubes put in that day, he was acting like nothing had changed!
Good Luck, I'm sure he'll be ok, I'll say a prayer for you guys!!!
((Hugs)) to both you and Mason! I know its scary, but I'm sure everything will go great and Mason will feel soooo much better once those ear infections are gone!!
