Seeking some advice....
DS is almost 17 months old now and we really haven't joined any groups. I tried 2 different church based MOMS groups and didn't like either. Haven't thought about any activity-related groups for Josh since he's so young. At what age did you start joining into playgroups, kiddie-classes, etc? My friends' kids are not really close to Josh's age, so I want to find some people I have this in common with, but it seems hard. I just read about the MOPS group locally, but I'm not big on taking Josh somewhere the kids are sequestered away from the Moms when I don't know anybody yet. The other problem is that I'll have a tiny one (DD) attached to me again as of July. Should I just wait awhile longer?
TIA!

I did not join any groups when my ds was little, since we lived in the same town as family and friends so that kept me busy!

I tried one playgroup last summer when Emily was 18 months, and it turned out to be a drama filled, catty group of women, so it kinda put me off on the whole thing.

I brought Emily to her first "playgroup" when she was 16 months. It's through our Park and Recreation Dept. We still go once a week. It's for kids 9 months-3 years. It's 10:30-noon. Huge auditorium with all kinds of play structures, toys, etc. Then the parents help clean up and finally there is

We joined a playgroup (I actually started my own within a larger mom's group) when she was about 3 months old.
