Class gifts for the teacher.

Hey there. I need help. I think I have decided on a gift for the class to give their teacher at the end of the year but I need help coming up with a theme. First, these are 1st graders with half the class in a low income status. I have little cards I will send home for each child to sign and maybe write her a note in, on the front of the card is two females sitting at a table with shopping bags at their feet and they are drinking coffee/tea and there are sweet treats on the table. I really have no idea if she is a coffee or tea drinker, she is one of those teachers who doesn't really want you to hang around in class when you are there to help her unless you are doing something that can be done only in the class room. She is very standoffish and hard to get to know, I have been her room mom all year and I still am not comfortable enough to just ask questions to try and find things out about her to get to know her. Although, my dh does worh with her dh so maybe I could get him to ask her dh if she drinks teas or coffees. Hmmm...... of course he will then tell her I am fishing. LOL

A movie theme is always cute and not overly expensive...get a big ceramic popcorn bowl and fill it with maybe a few AMC Theater gift certificates, a couple Blockbuster gift certificates, some gourmet bags of popcorn or some microwave popcorn and then some shakers with popcorn toppings (they sell shakers with cheese topping and stuff like that to add to your popcorn)...wrap the bowl in cellophane and tie with a big bow.
A book theme is also a cute one...gift certificate to Barnes & Noble or Borders. maybe a pretty journal and matching pen, a bookmark, and a teacher themed throw/afgan/lap blanket...you can wrap the gifts in the blanket and tie it with ribbon.
Not sure if these are the kinds of suggestions you were looking for or not, but these are just some of the things we've done in the past when doing gifts!

Are you crafty?
I can send you directions to a craft I did for my kids teachers when they were younger, the teachers loved it. I call it "Thanks for helping us grow" Flower pot and you can have the kids help you with supplies, they are very cheap. It has alot of supplies, but I promise it's pretty easy to put together if you can use a glue gun and follow directions. Let me know. Joey
