desk or easel?

Hello, I have a large-for-his-age 28 month old, who likes to paint and use markers. We were considering getting an easel for him, but after doing some research found some of these multi-purpose, art/activity desks. Wondering if anyone has a recommendation on which way to go from experience. I'm thinking the desk (we paint on paper on the floor right now), since it's multi-purpose, but not sure if he'd prefer to stand and paint at an easel, and I not sure what makes the most sense over the long haul.

Hey Liz, I have 2 Step 2 desks like this one
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4232153
and 2 easels, the kids use the desks more. The Easel IMO is a waste of space in this house even though it folds. It has a Chalk board on one side and a roll of paper on the other (which is very hard to find replacements for) The kids always used the chalk board more.
My oldest got the desk when he was like 2, and he still uses it at 9 yrs old for homework. My 5 yr old loves it for everything, paint, playdoh, homework, drawing, reading etc. It's great because it's storage too.
I would go for the desk, We've really gotten our money's worth from it. Have fun...Joey

I would like to get a small desk for Emily, she loves arts & crafts, in fact, that's what she spent the day doing! LOL!
