Hi everyone,
I was looking for some advice:

My brother is coming into town in a couple of weeks. He will be here for the weekend only. He only has one day "free", and I was going to open my home from 1-4 for friends and relatives to stop by and say hello.

I would serve drinks and maybe a light dessert.

I would definately keep it simple, cheese and crackers, a fruit basket or fruit salad, chips and a salsa dip (do it in layers, sourcream, salsa, shredded cheese, then shredded lettuce on top.

I would suggest a pot luck type of thing. You are opening your house, the least they could do is help with the food.

I totally agree with the pot luck or cookies and cup cake idea. My family always tells me that I am alway to frantic at parties at my house. So I have quite trying to cater to all my guest. I have some one to help me set everything up before the party and then I can enjoy the party when everyone is showing up. Besides, I bet you are not suppost to be up moving around alot with you back surery. That gives you a good reason to sit down and have a good time.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. God willing, the weathermen are right and we have a cold front moving into our area tomorrow. We are supposed to have cooler weather for Saturday! Yay! That means windows wide open, and I may be able to get away with some cheese or dips that otherwise would spoil in my non-central A/C house. I'm planning on going to BJ's Friday to get some baked goods to serve with coffee. I was thinking of baking some things myself, but the baby has been super fussy lately and wants to nurse ALL the time. Doesn't leave much time for baking, let alone cleaning! Anyway, I'll probably do a veggie tray, and again, some cheese and crackers, salsa and chips, and so on...
