Help if you can, about tonsils.

Okay, I took Katie to the Dr finally because of constant sore throat. I have been giving her Claritin just to see if it's sinus problems which I am almost sure it's not. She's had this sore throat since at least May off and on. Without saying anything to the school nurse she said it looked like her tonsils were greatly enlarged and she is running a low grade fever.

Okay, what I need help with is this. The Dr asked me if she snored. No, she doesn't. Does a person with tonsils problems snore? Now with that here are facts, we never have regular symptoms when it comes to problems. It will turn out to be this or that and me or the kids never showed a signed of an important symptom or things are backwards.

Because Natalie has sinus problems the Dr wants me to keep giving Katie Claritin for 2 weeks to see if this help improve her throat, thinking possible drainage. I am beyond sinuses at this point. This child never has sinus problems, not once. What does Natalie have to do with this? Is she lumping them together as one on this? That is what it sounds like to me. Oh, and never said anything about her fever.

Anyway, if you can give me some insight and help me out please do. Thank you.

Thank you. I'll be waiting to see what she says. I looked up symptoms of toncillitis and she has had many of the symptoms off and on over the last few months but of course they are things she could have gotten eating too much of something. A tummy ache, headache. You know. Not knowing they symptoms I didn't know what to look for now I do. So every time she tells me her tummy hurts of her head hurst I will record it along with sore throat problems.

A co-worker of mines son had problems for an entire school year with his throat (sore throat, fever, missed a ton of school). He finally saw an ENT and they decided to remove his tonsils. He hasn't had any problems since then.

Tonsils can act like sponges that sit in the kitchen, they hold on to germs. If she is getting sick over and over even if its not the same thing it could be the tonsils. The question over the snoring is because when they are very large (my DD has HUGH ones but they are 100% heathly) can block the air way at night and cause snoring or sleep apnia. I had mine out when I was 5 which I supose was good at the time I don't rember. But when I went throw purbirty they grew back!! They where removied again and have grown back. I won't have them out again unless I start having problems. I've made it clear I don't want DD's out unless she starts being sick often. It is very comin for girls to have them grow back when they go throw purbirty. If she was being sick alot or staying sick, I'd be fast tracking her to get them out. Call back about the temp thing, maybe see a difrent Dr?

Good Luck

Well, that's just it this is my child who never gets sick. Has no sinus problems and an immune system that is very strong and fights off a lot. Anyway, I am thinking I will over ride her Dr and take her to my ENT, he sees children and I know he will give me the honest truth and no he-haw about it. I love him. He's a football guy too! LOL I need to think about it. Her fever spiked to 101.4 this evening so I am thinking this will be an issue until I get her into an ENT.
