BTDT BFing Moms HELP!

Jordan WILL NOT take a bottle. We've tried six brands, including Gerber's Nuk brand, because those are the pacifiers he likes. No deal. He screams and gets absolutely furious every time we try. Am I resigned to be a prisoner here? lol I love to BF, but there are times DH and I want to get out on our own. Perhaps at six months when he starts in on other foods... Anyone else have a baby that wouldn't take a bottle?

There are several reasons why the baby won't take the bottle, one of the best things to remember is Mom means FOOD! Have your DH or someone besides you give him the bottle, and you need to leave the room, get out of ear shot of the baby. Try, try again, it will work, I promise.

Next, i wouldn't try several different bottles you will confuse him more, the ONLY bottle that ever worked for me with my kids it the Platex Nursers with the drop in liners. If you do decide to use these make sure you use BM, not formula, most BF'ed babies hate the sour taste of formula. Also, before your DH gives the baby the bottle, make sure to push the liner up to take out all the air, your boobs don't have air in them, why should a bottle, KWIM?

Good Luck, I hope you can escape prison soon ;)

I agree with everything the previous poster said exept I recomend the Avent bottles, for some reason the playtex once stopped being imported to Iceland and it wasn't because they weren't popular. I haven't tryed them though so they might be very good without my knowledge :)

but I also want to add that if nothing works you could try feeding the baby formula from a glass or a sippy cup. I know that some women have done that, while wiening the baby and then after a while the bottle is introduced again and then it's usually fine...
