You really need to talk to your pediatrician about this.

Absolutely start with your pediatrician and I hope you will follow through with a therapist for your son.

I am so sorry your having to go through this...Sounds lik he is having anger issues...I just watched a DR. Phil show about kids like this and he had an associate on, Dr.Lawless, who just wrote a book called Mending the broken Bond. He had a kid on the show that in the home video his parents shot to show Dr. Phil, the kid hit him self 52 times in the face. It was so sad to watch. They also had a new baby and he is a 5 yr old and dad thinks mom is not harsh enough...What he did suggest is that the parents have to come to an agreement on punishments and be a united front...I learned this first hand...My older DS is a step son to my DH....When we disagree in front of him about his punishment, he acts out more but when we stick together, the tantrum goes away faster and when was asked of him does get acomplished faster...I may not like what my Dh does to punish my DS but I never say anything in front of DS anymore I pull my DH aside after and we make adjustments for the next time. and I have also stepped up as well...being home has helped that allot....
