My Mother’s Gifts - Very Long!

My DB and DSIL were just as curious as I about the contents of the six large boxes she sent. It took a while to open and look through each one. Most of what she sent is useful or decorative in a way that’s appealing to me. There is only one “questionable†item … a set of salt and peppershakers that I can’t find a way of opening. Neither can anyone else! LOL!
The first held a mahogany trimmed, fabric covered sewing chest with every conceivable sewing notion inside ... including a few I’m not quite sure about.
The second was a box with two lovely teapots from her collection. One was a gift to her from my DH’s mother in 1967. The other is Asian in design and I remember it from my childhood. I love them both.
The third box was filled with silver. There is a sterling silver tray with a sugar bowl and creamer. It was a gift to my DM from my Girl Scout Troup when she left her post as assistant leader after three years. There were also two tiny silver bowls and four tiny serving pieces ... sugar tongs, two sugar shells, and a tiny ladle that are monogrammed and belonged to Aunt Nellie.
The fourth held wind chimes! I wanted some to hang on our deck! ;-)
The fifth held additions to my apple collection ... an apple-shaped trivet, a pair of apple-shaped candleholders (BIG), and a set of eight apple-shaped place card holders.
Box number six held Christmas ornaments ... some new, some that belonged to her or Aunt Nellie, a few flea market finds. All will be used on one of our many trees.
So all in all I am pleased! I don’t have to worry about doing the 27-Fling Boogie! LOL!
Thanks for allowing me to share my story with its happy ending.
