almost over. Next week is the last week of classes. Then finals, graduation and ,hopefully, lots of rest. But, these two weeks are very hectic. Department elections today. I definitely am not running for anything. I have enough on my plate.

Friends from Texas are in town. They came over for lunch yesterday, and we had a real nice time. They plan to go to the theater everyday, and I am going to join them for at least three shows. That will be a nice break from daily routine.

Our department elections are today. I am not running for any position. I keep reminding myself that I have enough on my plate. It's time for others to step up. Our Chair announced she is retiring, and I am happy for her. She is still young and wants to branch out into another field.

Prayers going out to those hard hit in the midwest. I am glad our Ladies are okay.

I've been through a few hurricanes, and they can be devastating too. One never gets used to them. So sad the loss of lives.

Have to run if I am going to meet my morning class. HAGD

Hope, I'm glad you are pacing yourself a little bit and not runing for anything. You probably don't need all the headaches that go with the positions. I am picturing Texas meets New York. Especially the accents. Have a great time with your friends.

Everyone seems to be picking up the pieces in the midwest. The town about 30 miles from us just doesn't have their downtown anymore. It's a really small town and the downtown pretty much amounted to "the square". They were saying that some of the buildings dated back to the 1870's. My dh commmented that of all the years those buildings have been standing and all they've been through, including other storms, it's strange that this was their time to go.

The town that is so close to ours may not be able to have school for the rest of the year. They think it will take until at least September to repair the structures to a safe level. So they may even get off to a late start next year.

There was a lot of loss of life, but when you look at the "splinters" that was once a whole neighborhood, you marvel that there wasn't more.--Pat

Good Morning, Hope.

It sounds like you are enjoying your friends from Texas! I love it when friends and family from out of town visit us. It gives me an opportunity to do all those things that are right at my doorstep ... but I never seem to find time to do.

Living in NYC ... why there must be a zillion things you could do! I'm jealous!

Have a great day.

Good luck during the next few weeks. We are in the middle of End of grade tests all over the system. Right after the staff leaves is a busy time for me, so I am looking at another month before I can take a break. Enjoy your friends.
