Good morning to you all. I think I was here the other day and wished Pab a happy birthday but that message is no where to be found. I have no clue what I did wrong.

For those of you who don't know me, I live up here in 'Wild Kingdom" near Glacier National Park - near means I can throw a rock into it. Anywhoo, we have had multitudes of wild critters passing through this past few weeks as everyone wakes up for the warmer seasons. This morning there were elk in my meadow (7) and yesterday I was thrilled to spot a moose on the loose out there. We had two grizzlies the other day and black tail deer as well as white tail deer. There are ducks and geese nesting and a zillion other birds of all kinds because we live along some sort of bird flyway. One of the geese is a bachelor and he's in love with the two goose decoys we have set out there.

I have five horses. At the moment I'm looking for a hot date for my mare, Gracie. I would like to get her bred in May when she cycles through her heat. She's a gorgeous Palimino (like Trigger) and I rode her in her first parade the other day. She did great. Ed, my favorite horse survived the winter in fine shape. We have had a couple of trail rides already this spring.

The snow has been gone from my little ranch for quite some time. However, it's still drifted up in some areas around here. I transplanted some rhubarb from my other yard at the home I'm selling. It's coming up. So I guess I'm officially moved into this new home. The old house has a buyer and the sale should close soon ( I hope ).

If anyone is reading about Savannah , there is another title I'm reading: DELIRIUM OF THE BRAVE by Harris. It's been out a long time but isn't too hard to find.

I have a habit of giving cooking tips since one of the careers I had/have is as a chef. I owned a supper club for many years. Before I got lost in this new board format, I was about to go on a rant regarding garlic. Here it is. I noticed that nearly all or our grocery stores carry the same type of garlic grown in the same area - Gilroy, Ca (Christopher Ranch).All the whole, chopped and minced garlic we see these days is from that region. They have a wonderful garlic festival which I would love to attend one of these days. Be that as it may, people forget or don't know that there are many different varieties of garlic. The way to get these species grown by small independent farmers is to look for organic garlic in your local supermarket,stop by a health food store, go to a farmer's market, or grow your own. I recommend hunting for alternative garlic because the taste is quite different.

Have a great Tuesday everyone. Becky

Good Morning Becky!

Your discription of your new home sounds beautiful, like a nature story, with all the different kinds of animals moving though! That was funny about your mare, needing a hot date, hope she finds her love! LOL. Also hope that your other place sells soon!

You mentioned about the garlic, I did not know that, there was many varities, It makes sense! I guess we get what we pay for, the special types are so expensive here! That goes with out saying about mushrooms too, and pineapples for an example! Now lets add greenpeppers pretty soon we can have kabobs! I love them from the grill! We are having way too much rain this spring! Our grass needs cut, badly now! Hugs, SusieK

Thank you for sharing the description of life on your ranch, Becky. I could easily get used to a life like that! We have deer and fox, wild turkey and smaller fuzzy creatures, and our share of snakes, but nothing as exotic ... or large ... as moose or bear! Thank you, God! LOL!

Thanks for the garlic tips, too. My paternal grandparents grew most of their own fruit, vegatables, and herbs. Fresh garlic was something they were never without. I have never tried to grow my own, but now that you mentioned it, I just might try. I surely use enough of it.

Give Bug Ed {{{hug}}} for me!

Have a good day.

Beckaroo!!! I'm sooooo happy to see you back on the board *finally*!! All your moving here and there and your computer snafu's have kept you away from us way too long girlfriend.

I loved reading about all your wildlife up there in God's country. You are one lucky Bug to be able to see all that beauty every day. Mmmmm..I love rhubarb too, but have never grown any. We used to grow it when I was a kid and I'd pick some, wipe off the dirt on my pants, and eat it raw. Don't think I'd be able to do that now though..LOL!!

Funny story about your bachelor goose too..LOL!! Poor guy hasn't figured out yet that something isn't quite right there..LOL!! Glad to hear your horsies are doing well too. Hope you find just the right mate for Gracie. You go girl!! Gracie I mean!! LOL!! Give hugs to Ed from his aunties too. ;o)

Take care Becky and come back often now y'hear?! And...watch out for those grizzlies!!!

~~~Big Hugs, Susie
Hugs,
..
Well, good morning, Miss Becky. I was thinking that you had hibernated for the winter, too. Sounds like the makings for a wonderful spring. You are a lucky lady to be living there. Please come back and share often with the rest of us who aren't as lucky.
Hey, Becky...it is so good to see that you are able to post here again. You have surely been missed. To sit and relax and watch the wild animals pass by...you are one lucky Bug. Do hope you are able to follow through with your plans for Gracie. How neat it would be to have the anticipation of the arrival of a colt. We have enjoyed hearing from Ellen and her baby goats.
Enjoy your day and will be looking forward to seeing your name here often now!!!
Hugs...Pab
Hey Becky, long time no hear. Your homestead belongs on a postcard or several. I have stopped all gourmet cooking and baking since I didn't have your tips to guide me. Kathey
Good Morning Becky..your life in the "Wild Kingdom" sounds wonderful. We have a house upstate and I know how excited we use to get when we would see the wild turkey and the deer coming through the property in the early morning hours, so I can only imagine the thrill of seeing elk, moose and grizzlies.
Love garlic but wasn't aware that there were several kinds, don't thing our local supermarket carries different types but we do have another place called "Wild by Nature", will have to check there and see what they carry.
Good luck in finding a mate for Gracie, it must be wonderful to get to ride whenever you want and in such a beautiful setting too.
Enjoy your day - Val
