I'm breaking out of this place tomorrow

come hell or high water, and it's the high water I'm more likely to face! At this point anyway! Life is starting to return to normal for most people around here, and there wasn't as much rain as feared today. It has rained a lot, but only really poured for a few hours this morning. With any luck, we'll get some sunshine tomorrow and start to dry out. Of course since no winds are in the forecast, I expect it's going to be mighty muggy. Was it Kathey who mentioned not caring for mugginess?? Thank goodness for air conditioning!

DD has apparently located an apartment to share for the 2 months she'll be working in Italy this summer; she'll have her own bedroom and share the apartment with a Japanese girl. I'm glad she found a place since she'll be leaving at the end of this month, and it's good to have a place to go to. It's out of the city center, but a bus line passes right down her street on a straight shot into the city; then she can either take another bus or walk on the rest of the way. Her workplace is a couple of doors up from the American Consulate, and security there is extremely tight. Whether that will be good or bad for her I haven't quite figured out!

Being shut up inside the house, I could have gotten so much thorough cleaning done...but stormy days don't inspire me to cleaning! They inspire me to watch old movies, or read a good book, or take a nap...at best, to cook a nice dinner. So Monday, I had found some good-looking greens at the store. My DH loves greens and a good Southern meal of ham and sweet potatoes with them. So I happily cooked. Since I've cut back on cooking with fats, I decided to flavor the greens with some garlic vinegar that had whole garlics in it. There were more garlics than vinegar in the bottle which I found in the back of my pantry, so I poured them all in. At dinner, I took the first bite of greens, with 2 whole garlics....OMG...those weren't garlics at all but some of DH's hottest chilies that he grew a couple of summers ago, and had put into the vinegar...No label telling me that, and I thought we had used up all his vinegar ages ago. Can we say hhhhhoooooootttt????!!! It was pretty awful, let me tell you. Of course, DH, being an Arizona native, can't resist showing how much heat he can take. So he took a bite, swallowed it, and said "I don't think we can eat this." LOLOL Several years ago, we were on vacation and were eating Chinese food in Charlottesville, Va., and I accidentally chewed on a hot red pepper with my broccoli. The whole family found that just delightful, and have never let me forget it. So another good story is born, and it was ham and sweet potato for us. Guess I should pull something together for tonight's dinner. Poor DH was snacking all evening yesterday! Have a good evening, Everybody! Seren

Muggy is not my favorite season. And it is muggy here. It's been in the 60's with a threat of rain for a couple of days. I'm already dreading when it's in the 70's with a threat of rain.

Are you going to give that vinegar/chili peppers recipe to KT to put on the homepage(lol). Kathey

Another good Seren story! So he didn't think you two could eat it, eh? Too funny coming from the "heat man"!
