To all who venture here in the garden

I tried to get here yesterday, but it was crazy. Not anything specific or interesting, but I had so much to get done. My part of the Honor Chorus chores ends today. Shelby will sing with them once more on Saturday at Underground Atlanta. Then she hangs up her vest as she moves on to middle school.

I had a brief conversation with her teacher today, and she said that the school board is requiring them to give a standardized test next week. Next week is the week before the end of the school year. The teachers don't even know what test they are required to give.

The big thing going on here is the weather. It has not been as bad as what has been going on in the Midwest, but it has been bad. After years of drought, we now are threatened with flooding. And it seems as though we are always under a tornado watch, if not a tornado warning. All of the rain is also driving ants indoors. Pesky little critters! As Trapperjane warned last week, time to head for the hills!

I hope that you are all doing well. Does anyone have any special plans for Mother's Day? My nephew is graduating from college Sunday. Most of the family will be going to Macon, Ga. for that, but I will remain here and Daddy-sit. My nephew's uncle (his father's brother) is planning a big dinner for everyone. All I ask is that they send me a plate, as this is a man who really knows how to cook!

Well, I am off to work now.

Hugs,

Dannie

Hi, Dannie

I hope life slows to an easier pace before the day is over.

Weather woes are the worst! We are having several huge trees removed in a few weeks on preparation for hurricane season. They are just too big, much taller than the house, and close enough to be destructive if they were to fall our way.

Mother's Day will be very low-key here. Our DD can't come home just for a day and my DM lives too far to visit. I'm not sure what's happening with my DMIL. She has four sons who want to do *something* with her. But she can't tolerate the confusion of the whole family descending upon her all at once. We'll see.

You are a good person to forego the festivities and stay with your dad! Extra hugs to you!

Well, I'm off to read the board.

HAGD

Hi Dannie! Glad to know you are safe. You are getting the weather we had all right, and it is a trial! Not as deadly and destructive as the tornadoes in the Midwest, but it's nervewracking to live with tornado watches for almost 72 hours, with warnings tucked in every few hours. And the rain pouring and thunder and lightening crashing...My nerves were shot by the third day, and I'm one who enjoys a good storm! Well, I've had enough, and thankfully the sun is out now. It is muggy, and we have more rain and storms moving in, but people are out and about. I'm not sure all roads are clear, but I only had one detour I had to make. A lot of people-hundreds I imagine-are displaced by the floodwaters. Cleaning out a house when it's been flooded, in this mugginess...oh me. Still we're getting close to the end of all this storminess. I did think about you last night.

Hey, I have family in Macon as well! Was thinking I'd drop by to see them on part of my Savannah trek. However, while they are good enough cooks, the food won't be anything special. How about a letter of intro to your nephew's uncle??? LOL Seren
