"younger" bugs by referring to yesterday a.m. as Friday. See Bren, it didn't work, 'cause I didn't even notice the day you had typed in!!! lololol

Sitting here at the computer with the window open and a male cardinal flew by the window. They are building a nest in our weeping cherry tree. The first cardinal nest that close to the house since we moved here 19 years ago. Another phase of life passing.

I wasn't going to say anything on the Board, but you know me. Can't keep my mouth closed. We DID sell the house and have to be out by the end of June. The condo we have purchased won't be available until the end of July. Can you imagine trying to find an economical place to live for a month in a tourist area? We will probably end up in some motel with cars up on blocks!

I am so happy for the couple who is buying our home. They have 3 children, and they returned 3 times to look the place over. They even know where they are going to put a fence to protect those kiddies. The last time they came to the house, the mom told the father, referring to the 2 children in the car, "they are NOT coming in here". I thought it was kind of cute, because once they move here, they WILL be in the house running on the light carpet and running their hands on the pale walls.

We left a "home" where our daughters raised, 19 years ago to move here. Moving to this county was a requirement of DH's employoment as Chief of Detectives. Our daughters never thought of this place as their home, which is one of the reasons I won't feel bad leaving. We are returning to the county where they grew up and 2 minutes away from the DD I babysit for.

So sorry for all of this talking, but I am very happy. The house was actually sold within 3 days of being put on the market. Guess we did a decent job in preparing it for viewing.

I love where we are moving to and we will be getting all new furniture. What we now own will be sold by ads in the newspaper.

Oh another thing. WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED 44 YEARS TODAY. DH says it has been 44 years of "slavery", I tell him it has been 44 years of "sheer misery".. We will probably argue about it over a nice dinner. lol

First of all Happy Anniversary to you and your DH.

Now you little stinker...you weren't going to tell us about the selling of your house? How long ago did this transaction take place? That is wonderful that you sold in such a short time. You will certainly be on busy bug the next few months. So glad you found a condo you are happy with and to be so close to your DD...that is great.

Hugs...Pab

p.s. I think Brenda was excited about celebrating Mother's Day early...this eve with her DS. ;o)

Happy Anniversary, Lanie. You two must be quite a pair, and it has obviously been a good combination.

My dad always said that birds naturally choose the cleaner, healthier environments. With the cardinals moving in, it must be a sign that being your neighbor is a good thing.

Now, Lanie, I was trying to make a big deal about today being Friday, sort of like a New Year's Eve. It was a TGI(going to be)F. Oh well, it worked for me. L

Enjoy your dinner and your day.

Lanie, how exciting! You could come live here with us for a month! What fun that would be! But the drive is kinda long, you live up in the frozen northland, don't you?? LOL Wow, getting all new furniture! What fun! You could go furniture shopping in North Carolina and hang out with the Carolina bugs, and tour potteries! Run that by the your long-suffering spouse. Here on the board, I always refer to the old DH as, well, *DH*. I sometimes want to refer to him as "the old ball and chain", which just cracks me up, but I'm afraid the gentle ladies here would be offended! LOL I have always had changing nicknames for our daughters, they never know what to expect, and they do the same back to us. For a long time I referred to them as "my little goslings" or, even more delicate, "my little gosling feathers". Those were good names. As often as not, it's just Hey you with the long face (that's a favorite of the old ball and...), or Hey you with the legs (???), just whatever. I love nicknames, not mean ones or ones that might be by any stretch of the imagination hurtful (*hate* that), but just bits of affection. All our pets have a couple dozen variations of their names...They still know when they're in trouble! LOL DD1's cats are Big Doc Kitty and Little Baby Belle. Oh I am really on a roll here. How embarrassing. This is just *exactly* what my kids imagine I'm doing with "those Ladybug people"!! LOL Better stop now.

Congratulations on 44 years of wedded bliss! You both picked well, didn't you? Have a wonderful dinner tonight, and a sunny weekend. We can tell you are happy, and happiness is contagious, dontcha know! So thanks! Seren

Well Pab, here's the story. We put it on the market on Tuesday, received a very nice offer 2 days later and a few that weren't quite as nice. Our realtor went away Fri., Sat., Sun., Mon., and returned on Tuesday. She sent a fax to all the realtors who were interested to present their "best and final" offer by Tuesday, noon. That was 3 days ago. She stopped by our house Tuesday night with the papers and we were just floored. We signed with a couple who have 3 children and since they are selling a house on the shore, they offered us a price a nice bit higher than we felt ours should have been priced at. We figure we surely can put up with some inconvenience for a month for the price they offered. It sold in one week!!!!

I hesitated to put it on the Board, just because. It is kind of like telling the world because of all the lurkers out there. We surely are pleased and it has lifted a lot of tension in this house between the two of us.

Our condo is all one floor attached to 3 other "adult" homes. No lawn tending, but plenty of lawn and trees there. Our unit is off the street, which we like. Kind of towards the woods. The activity center is beautiful and large. An enormous outside pool and a smaller one inside, but olympic sized. DGD says she is going in one of those pools the day we move. Grands can swim there between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. I think that is very reasonable.

Pab, we are very happy and know we will enjoy our lives there.

Thanks Seren. Your post made me feel good. We are looking forward to going out tonight and I am sure there will be a lot of bantering between just which one of us tortures the other most. lol I told him I am going to have an apple-martini, yes I am, and can't wait. He just rolls his eyes.

Lanie, Have an apple martini for me please! Congrats on your 44th anniversary! Your description reminded me of what I say in my profile about DH and myself."33+ years, way too short some days, way too long others!" Congrats also on the house selling!! Your new digs are what I want in my future. No yard(just a lanai with some containers), smaller house, a pool for exercise! Yippee!! Enjoy your evening! KaCee

Poof!!! I'm gone!!
