Here's the link Seren was talking about

http://www.pbs.org/manorhouse/

My DH and I really enjoyed this show. Did you watch all three nights? These were 2001 people sent back to live in Edwardian times.(early 1900's) A reality Upstairs/Downstairs. The upstairs people handled it better(naturally) other than the "maiden aunt". She had a hard time adjusting from a woman who owned her own business in 2001 to one that owned nothing and really had no real place in the early 1900's. Major adjustment! Also of course the "downstairs" staff had problems. The chef and the butler and to some extent the housekeeper did okay but the rest didn't seem to know what they signed on for. A couple of the girls should have looked up the definition of "scullery maid" before they signed on and them promptly quit! Anyway, I'm not sure what your questions were. Like I said we enjoyed this. As Seren and I agreed we would have to be upstairs, no cleaning chamber pots for us! KaCee

Poof!!! I'm gone!!

Kacee, I only saw the one show and that was because I was ironing on a Sunday afternoon and that was the first show to come up that seemed half way interesting to me. Can you imagine ironing 4 weeks of uniforms without something interesting to watch on the tv?

I agree with you about the "downstairs" staff. Would not want to do that, but they signed up for it, right? What did they expect? I had to laugh at the 2 fellows sleeping out there in the grass and the butler had to go hunt them down. And, they wanted "input"! That too seemed a little funny to me, as in the real Edwardian days, there was no input. Wasn't that the point they were trying to make?

What did you think of the "owners"?

I did enjoy what I saw and thanks for the link. Will read it.
