I have had for awhile.

Get this, we had a coupon for one free dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Atlantic City. This rest. has been around for years and years.

We went in through the bar, or should I say tavern to be a little more classy. Sat down in the restaurant. It really looked quite nice, free coupon and all. I had that sour apple martini. It was very good, but disappointingly felt it was a little too sweet to havae a second. I had planned on a second all day! lol

We ordered dinner: mine, filet mignon (my favorite), Dh's veal francaise. He ordered a beer and a white wine for me as I do NOT like red wine. Again, no class. Just before the wine arrived, an acquaintance of DH's, who was at another table, ordered a martini for me. Well, I was torn. Drink the martini, or drink the wine. Wine was excellent, but didn't want to hurt the feelings of the friend. After one sip of the "second" martini, I had a flashback of upchucking on the road after Christmas 2 years ago after drinking 2 martinis and just could NOT get it past my lips, so the decision was made. Leave the martini!!

Dinners were excellent. Appetizers were shrimp cakes (versus crab cakes) -- delicious. Salad with blue cheese dressing, but the real thing. Not bottled dressing. Our entrees were good too. We laughed a little about being married 44 years and getting ready to live in an adult community.

All in all, it was a very, very nice evening. I asked the waitress to get rid of the martini so DH's friend didn't see her. We talked to the friend for about 30 minutes, then left to look at our new condo again.

I am very lucky.

Congratulation Lanie on the new condo..somehow, somewhere I missed that you had found a new place.

The dinner sounded great and one of the dinners being free makes it even better. My mother use to drink Manhattans and I remember getting really sick one time, when I was very young from too many Manhattans, never touched another one.

I'm strickly a wine or Margarita girl myself, a white Zinfandel or maybe a Rose, never liked those red wines either..

Glad you had a good time and again congrats on the condo.

Lanie, thanks for sharing your special evening with us! I could picture it all. Will we have pictures of your new home?? I'm curious, you know! Now, Girlfriend, about *class*: class is ordering the wine you want regardless of red meat or fish, because you, after all, are above all that! LOL I've never had a sour apple martini, not even sure if I've ever had a martini. Should I add that to my "must-try" list? What's planned for the rest of the weekend?? Have a good one. Seren

I am glad you enjoyed your evening. I am not much of a drinker, but the apple business sounds good. I did buy some wine earlier today and plan to have a glass shortly.

I love to hear you talk about trading remarks with your DH. Such gentle jabs they are.

Enjoy Mother's Day.

Hi Elaine - i just read your post for the second time today and really enjoyed sharing your evening :):) What a nice evening out!!!! And I can't believe you've been married for 44 years - did you get married at age 10?????????

I have to confess that I've never had a martini but I totally agree with you about white versus red wine. In my opinion red wine is only good if you're dying for a migraine!!!

I hope this evening and all the evenings to come are as pleasant for you both. have a happy Mother's day tomorrow.
