In the post I related the dear DH hasn't been feeling well and has been quite grouchy, so more for my own sanity than for him I have been ignoring him. He's had a cold and went to the doctor Monday, an "old coot" I stopped going to years ago because of his attitude. He gave him a antihistamine, a cough syrup with codine and some new wonder drug that wasn't covered by our insurance plan and cost 89.00 for ten pills. Of course it didn't help because he has a cold...so he still moaned and groaned every morning and complained he was so exhausted...but he's got the antihistamine, the cough syrup with the codine in it and he takes two valarian root every night to help him sleep...I told him yesterday its no wonder he's tired, he's lucky he's not in a coma.
So yesteday morning he gets up feeds the pups and takes them out and he comes back and he's in a fury, swearing and throws the newspaper down in the hall and goes upstairs...I don't even ask what's the matter, I don't want to know. I hear the water running and then I hear the blow dryer going...I'm thinking maybe he went for a haircut and it turned out badly but I still don't ask.
About two hours later he's feeling better and he says "do you know what happened to me this morning?"...I get out of the car at 7-11 to get the paper and I feel this plop on my head...I reached up to feel my head and I have this big bird poop on my head...a bird with the wind span of a dinosaur (he tends to over state)dropped a big poop on my head.
Of course at that point I just break up, its the best laugh I've had in awhile.
The rest of the morning is uneventful, I did some housework and than went food shopping. I had just put everything away and made myself a salad, when the phone rang and it was the school nurse looking for DD...
Remy was hurt in a school accident. She had called her a home but she wasn't there, I ask what'a the matter Remy and she tells me, he and another boy had a head to nose "incident" and she thinks he should be looked at..I try DD at work and she's not there, I try his Dad at work and he's out and won't be back for a half hour...I call DD's boyfriend to see if he knows where she is and he says she's at work...I tell him I called there and they said she wasn't there...he starts getting upset I don't understand she left for work early this morning...I tell him what's happened...now he's saying "I don't understand..she left for work this morning, I'll call them...I tell him to sit tight..I'll find her. I call back work and ask again if she's there...this is Starbucks and the mgr is new...I said will please ask if she was there..they don't want to give out information...I tell them look..this is her mother and he son's been hurt at school, I have to find her..then they tell me she left for a doctors appointment. The school nurse calls back and asks did I get in touch with anyone, at that point I ask her how badly is Remy hurt and she tells me she thinks his nose is broken. I tell her if I can't get her I'll be there.
I know sooner hang up when DD calls me, she called the boyfiend and he told her I was looking for her...I tell her whats going on and she starts getting upset and yelling..what's going one there, these kids are always getting hurt, what happened, where were the teachers etc...tell them to call an ambulance, I'm not driving him around with a broken nose...(she's had a lot going on lately...finals at school, projects due, moving in a couple of weeks) I tell her to calm down and just get to school. When I get off the phone with her I tell DH, I think I better meet her at school...she's pretty upset.
By the time I get there she's already there and Remy is laying on a cot with an ice pack on his nose...the other boy has a big bump on his head. She's calmed down, she wouldn't upset Remy but she's still asking for an ambulance. The nurse tells her they won't come for this and I tell her we'll drop her car home and I'll drive her to the hospital.
We got to the emergency room and his Dad pulls up too...at his point both Remy and his Mom have calmed down, his nose looks better than I thought but what do I know.. He's got his Mom and Dad there and Dad will drive them home. So I kiss Remy goodbye, tell him I love him..he'll be ok and I kiss her and tell her Happy Mothers Day.
I came home and made the other "patient" more chicken soup...it works better than anything and doesn't cost $89.00
She called me later to tell me the x-rays confirmed his nose is broken and she has to take him to an ENT...
One of those days that you have every once in awhile but everyone will be fine...

First off, poor Remy. He will probably be hurting for awhile. Kind of a badge of something, don't you think? lol
As for DH, well that entire story is too, too funny. So you ignore him! Good idea. They can be babies. When they are sick or hurting, boo hoo. When the wife is sick or hurting, where's my dinner? lol
Today definitely will have be better for you.

I did enjoy the story about DH...so funny...brings back many memories. Yes, you just have to ignore them. The price of the medicine outlandish.
I do hope Remy gets to feeling better and so sorry that the nose is broken. Poor fella.
I do hope that you can have a calm, enjoyable day today.
Hugs...Pab

One cannot relate to another the emotion present in that interview. I never saw anything like it. He spoke solid for about 30 minutes, calmly, factually . The reporters were pretty much mute because, it seemed to me, his way of talking made all of us speechless! Then, when DH and I thought the interview was over, he told how he applied torque to his arm to be able to twist it enough to first break the humerus, then reapply torque to break the ulna -- that was when emotion just let loose! DH, who can be quite a negative person, felt that Ralston would succeed in anything he attempted in life.
What really got me, was the lack of aggressiveness by the reporters. You know how they can bombard the subject with questions and that did not happen. As far as I was concerned, viewing that interview was a once in a lifetime experience.

Sorry, I couldn't help laughing about your DH's bird episode! Bet it just made his week! Why-o-why are men *such* babies when they are sick?! That was some mighty expensive medicine!!
Poor Remy - give him a hug from his Cyber-Aunties, plez! Chances are he will heal quickly and probably without any real damage having been done.
Hope your weekend runs smoother than yesterday!

You are loved ~~ far more than you may ever know!
Hope things are looking up for you now. Hope Remy's nose heals nicely too also, poor kid. That must've really hurt badly.

My DH will be working in the yard or something and sneeze...he will come in and say that he thinks he is getting sick, because of the sneeze...later on that day he will be so tired and needs to take a nap....he is sick you know...lol...Just like when he goes to bed at 6:30 in the evening, yes he goes to work at 5:30 in the morning and he is almost 63 years old, and all plays a part in it but...when he wakes in the morning at 4am and says he didn't sleep well I come unglued......I mean after 9 and ½ hours sleep it is no wonder it is still dark when your body wakes....lol....I think it is a man thing.
He also thinks that while we go on vacation for fishing that come rain, tornado or whatever he is there to fish and....."what? do something else besides fish?" I say that when you are on vacation you shouldn't have to do a darn thing if you don't want to. Well he is there to fish.......geez you will never win......we had a friend say what do you go fishing for if not to drink........but then he drank every other waking moment he didn't need an excuse....lol....
But I don't know what I would do without DH. And by the way he would have nothing he could bash me about ..........hahahahahahahahaha.........Janet
