What a day!!! the good, the bad, and ...

and the excellent! Well, the bad...I should not have watched Survivor. I am disappointed, *but* it's just a TV show. So I'm letting go of that. The good was hearing from my DDs, both of whom are doing well, and I will see them each at different times in the next few weeks. The excellent is that DD1, who is still involved in her exams, got 2 grades back tonight when she checked on the Internet. Last week, she had been convinced, "beyond doubt" that she had failed both classes. She had done a paper that she felt was so far below acceptable that she was ashamed of it, then took an exam in which she didn't even understand the questions...Tonight, when she looked, she had made her highest grades ever--in law school!--on the two! Her professor for whom she wrote the paper emailed to ask if he could put her paper on his Internet site for his future students to see how a paper should be researched and written. She is just beside herself....and so am I! Law school has knocked all her confidence out of her. She said last week: "Well, here it is the end of another year, and I'm in the wrong place. No law firm will ever hire me, and I don't want to work for one anyway, and be the dumb lawyer that other people have to carry." She has felt so stupid, and so humiliated to be so stupid. AAAAAArrrrggggg! I will be glad when she finishes! One more year!! DD2 asked me today when mothers stop worrying about their kids. Isn't that the question of the day? I said I think when the kids reach 40! LOLOL Just pulled that number up! She said she bet I used to think it was when they hit the ages they (the DDs) are now. I said, well, yeah, I was young and naive then. LOL

It has been a good day. Oh, I made Francine's Mile High Strawberry Pie yesterday for today! It is a winner! DH isn't all that fond of strawberries or of sweets, and he was raving about it. Not only is it delicious, light and refreshing, but such a pretty presentation. Ya'll should really give it a try this spring or summer. Thanks, Francine! I'm off to bed now, too tired to talk anymore (that is *real* tired for this Bug!). Hope everyone is happy and peaceful after a nice day. Seren

Congratulations to DD on her exams and paper. 40- I don't think so. DS38- and I still worry with him about important things in his life. This is what his Mother's day card read " No matter where you go, or what you do, I'll always be there. (On the inside) Kind of scary, huh?" LOL

Good Morning, Seren

Applause! Applause! Your DDs have done well and you ... as well as they ... should be proud. Good job, Mom.

Stop worring? At 40? ... Well ... Let's amend that to *forever*. Perhaps we won't *worry* every day but the care and concern never leave us, don't you think?

I'm glad the *Mile Mile Strawberry Pile* ... That's what our DD called it when she was a little girl ... was a success. It's not one of my favorite desserts. I'm not an ice cream fan and it has an ice cream quality about it. But everyone else likes it and it's easy. You can keep most/all of the ingredients on hand and make it at the very last minute.

Have a great day.

F.

Amen to your observations about being a mom! You never stop worrying. I have one who just turned 40 & I still worry.

What good news about DD's grades. Can you imagine what those marks have done for her self-esteem? Congratulations to her and to you for raising her.

So, you don't want to talk about Survivor, eh? Just a TV show you say? lol

DH and I hooted and howled while watching it. The end made his day because Rob was gone. I swear, he was a bit too close to being one of the final 2 in my mind. Seren, I wanted Matt to win, but didn't care for a few of his answers and thought Jenna's answers were honest. Now here is a strange twist. I thought Heidi was a bit odd talking about how much she loved and adored Jenna. What is with that?? Plus, she looked weird and they said Matt was weird in the beginning! lololol And what about Matt and Jenna all touchy, feely at the end? And what about how handsome Matt was without all that facial stuff going on? And what about how pretty Jenna was after eating a few good meals?

See how easily my opinions can be swayed? lol One of my daughters has told me she wished I was her friend in high school, because I would go along with anything! lol That seems to be the case now that I'm 39, but it wasn't while in high school. After all, Miss Taylor (geog) told me, "but Elaine, you are the instigator).

Anyway, please don't be depressed over the show! We will talk about it in S. one night when we can't sleep. lol

Glad you had a nice mother's day.

Congratulations to your daughter on her exams. I think the more you 'think' about a question and change your answer, the more apt you are to get confused and be wrong. I will say a prayers that the rest of the exams produce like results and that her final year is a "whiz". And congratulations to you for raising these girls to be ones who make their mom proud.

Yes, I think that's true about the care and concern. And, then, *if* we're lucky, we then have grandbabies to worry over, and the cycle continues!!! LOL and we're thrilled to have it continue...That's life! Seren

Oh, my goodness, Dee! Is the big move two weeks from now? Time is flying past. You'll see your kitchen again, but you'll always remember it the way it was "pre-boxes"! LOL Just hang in there and take care of yourself. Seren

Yes, Lanie, the grades have revived her for the moment, so that she can complete her one more paper. And it is so good for her to hear some praise. She works so hard, and feels so out-of-place, and inept. She feels that other students put so much less effort into their work, and do well because they just *get it*, and she doesn't. Many of the students do *just get it*, and that's great for them. Other people have to work doubly hard to survive. That's just the way it is, and she has accepted that, but she doesn't have to like it!! So this praise really bolstered her spirits. It was a wonderful Mother's Day present for me as well, and her professor will never know that! He is this brilliant fellow that she is in awe of, he's on *another level* from other humans...blah blah blah! Well, I'm sure he is, and that's makes his praise extra sweet. Well, enough of my Mother Hen routine for the morning. LOL

To Survivor: Yes, I noticed all the things you mentioned, also wondering about Heidi's hero worship (or whatever) of Jenna. Strange. Matt and Jenna were both so attractive with more pounds on them. That was a shock. Actually I missed hearing why the jury voted the way they did, because so much else was happening at the time here at home (phone calls!!). So I need to know: What was that all about? and I didn't hear Matt's answers to questions. Still think those girls were very naughty and bad role models, and felt sorry for Christie when they were always referred to as the "young and pretty" ones, and she was left out. Gee, that doesn't feel good to a young person to be lumped over with the old and uglies...who were not all that old, nor all that ugly, but here we go again!

You, an instigator??!! Bet Miss Taylor (geog) could tell us some verry interesting stories, hmmmm? I always get a kick out of your little red devil symbol or icon or whatever it is by your name! LOL

I really do have to leave now and get started with Monday chores, or before I know it, I will have spent the better part of the day just chatting away...Talk to you later, Girlfriend. Seren

Hey Kathey! I agree with you about putting too much thought into and fretting over questions until you totally bamboozle yourself. I know she works herself into a real stew during exams; she looks calm to the people around her, but inside her stomach is just a knot, and she can't sleep at night, can't eat. All that bad stuff. Thanks for the congrats! Hey, after what we go through raising our kids, I say Moms should take all the credit for the good stuff, and if you can't ignore the bad stuff, blame it on the in-laws!! LOL Seriously, I can't do that as I have terrific in-laws...have to clear that up or I'll feel guilty! Gotta get hopping around here. Talk to you later! Seren
