Good morning all...another one of those

days yesterday but I'm surprising myself and not sweating the "small stuff".

I had a dentist appointment yesterday mornimg at 9:45 and I got myself going early enough to exercise, shower and get to the dentist a few minutes early. When I got there I was chatting with the girls at the desk...telling them my "bird poop"story and I overhear a conversation about a "case" not being back from the lab. I find out its mine...they're calling and trying to track the shipment but not having much luck...the dentist is very upset, he tells me I was on the phone with these people twice this weekend and they assured me it would be here. He's a very nice young man, I've been his patient for more than ten years...he was new and working in another office when I first started going to him. He tell the girls as soon as the "case" comes in they should calll me and he will me in his schedule at my convenience.

I picked up some mulch and did some more gardening and had a nice afternoon...

Then the phone rang at 4:45..its DD and she's locked herself out of her car and its running and she's about 40 minutes away and it's now coming up to rush hour...rush hour on LI is a nightmare but what are you going to do. I have a vague idea of where she is and she's giving me landmarks, one in particular is the Walt Whitman Mall. I have to go to her house pick up her extra keys and drive to where she is. Now she's on a main drag RTE 110 if anyone knows LI that is several miles long and just one store, shoppping mall, gas station etc after another. I get there in pretty good, since the traffice at that hour is going east and I'm heading west but I'm looking at the traffic building in the othr direction and thinking...I'll be lucky to ge home but 7.

I get to RTe 110 and start looking for the gas station and bank she said I'd pass and I see them but I still haven't passed the Walt Whitman Mall...I keep driving until I pass the mall but now I don't see the gas station and bank she said I'd pass...its after five now and everyone is getting out of work, so traffic is a nightmare...I keep driving until I realize she can't be this far up, so I turn around and go back, I can't call her on her cell phone because its locked in the car. I start jumping out of my car at stop lights asking people if they know where the art store is...nothing...I pull into one gas station and they just look at me...they don't speak much english so I get back in the car and look for another gas station...I've now passed the "mall" going in the other direction and now I'm thinking I'll never find her, I'll be driving up and down this road until all this traffic lets up..the next gas station I pull into I'm asking if anyone knows where the art store is and finally a young girl says she things its just down the road near the Northfork Bank...I said yes...yes that's it. I drive down there and I see the car and DD and DGS sitting in front of the art store. I jump out and I start going on about how I've been driving around, jumping out in traffic...that she me it was past the mall and its nowhere near the mall, and how I thought I'd be driving around all night...We're both laughing at this point and my DGS is ROTFL...he says "Mom you and Grandma are so funny...you make my sides hurt".

I got lucky and decided to take another route home and the traffic wasn't so bad and I actually got home by 6:15.

They went to the ENT yesterday and Remy is going in for surgery Monday morning, so they can reset his nose. My daughter is still pretty upset with the school and the lack of supervision they have in the playground. They have individuals they hire to supervise the kids at recess but something always seems to be happening..but for now she has so much going on, graduation Sunday, Remy's surgery Monday, she's also suppose to start working Wednesday at her new job and she has to start packing as they are supppose to be in the new place June 1st. But as she says "it will all work out" we both have that attitude..you take it a day at a time and just do what you gotta do.

When these things happen though, I just think about her BF....its going to be fun watching him "adjust" to living with them..you need to be able to think fast and move quickly to keep up with us. He's a planner and while that's ok, plans have a habit of going astray...maybe he'll provide a balance we'll certainly see.

Well I'm off to work today so it should be a quiet day, one can certanly hope.

I have often asked DH to have an extra car key made for me in case he should lock himself out but he hasn't yet. Even though I don't drive I could get on a bus and meet him and the locked car but I think he is afraid I will take off for Long Island or some place as exciting. I hope your dentist calls today and that you don't get lost on the way to his office. Kathey

Can't wait to meet you, Val! Your story had me laughing here in s. jersey. Since you seem to be good at jumping out of your car (probably) yelling and waving your arms at the same time, you COULD have just driven in reverse on the non-heavy-traffic side. Could have gotten there faster! And, yes, I know what you are saying about the traffic there. DD says at rush hour it is one giant parking lot! When I used to visit her in Brooklyn, the traffic immediately eased up when I made the turn off that road, whatever it is called. I remember sitting at a stand still for 45 minutes until the road broke off. Then 3/4 of the cars went in your direction and there was nothing going to Brooklyn. Of course that was on Friday evenings. At the time I thought, "Wow, I could meet some friends here and we could have a sip of wine". lololol

Please, enjoy your day at work.

Oh Val, I had to laugh at your car/station story, even though I know if wasn't funny at the time! I have to tell you another car story. This happened to one of my friends! The couple had been visiting family about 5 hrs. away. The wife was very tired so decided to take a nap in the back seat. About halfway through the trip the DH stopped for gas. He then went inside to pay for it ...in the meantime..DW got out to use the restroom. DH returns to car, doesn't realize that DW isn't there and leaves her! He doesn't realize she's missing until about an hour later! (this was before cell phones!) He turns around and goes back for her....but someone she knows stops at the gas station and gives her a lift! So he gets there and she's gone! I would hate to hear the conversation between those two when they finally got together!!! LOL

Hope you have a better day today!

Hugs, Shari

Val,

Please try to have a less exciting day today. I am exhausted from reading your post. Like your DGS, you make my sides hurt. ROFLMBO. Really, I am so glad that things worked out well with the keys and stuff. I am going to invest in one of those magnetic key boxes that you hide under the hood of the car.

Hope you get that call from the dentist.

Ah, Dannie, but if you hide it under the hood of your car and can't get the hood open, except by releasing the latch from inside the car how can you get to the key?!!! 'Tis best to keep a spare key in your purse - providing that is, that you've not locked your purse in the car too!!

You used to be able to tuck one of those magnetic key boxes up inside a bumper, but now the bumpers are plastic!!
