Good heavens, BB! I was just getting ready to go do something useful around the house, when I saw this...Only watched one of the videos; horror movies scare me! That music was something else. LOL Who makes these films?? Oh me. Then I got to laughing thinking of you watching the videos, and posting this anyway...And I'm supposed to tell my family that the Ladybug women are just regular people, not strange????? Forget axe-murderers, but we're looking a little eccentric here! LOL I have always enjoyed Dave Barry, can't pass up an opportunity to read him. One of my DDs told me she remembers me teaching her to read using his column in the Sunday paper. What does that say about my mothering skills?? LOL Talk to you later. Seren

Maybe I just don't hate the fire ants (no I do not like them!) as much as you do Beebs; but I really cannot say I found the film clips the least bit interesting. The article by DB was cute tho.

KT and Seren, there is nothing I like more than seeing a fire ant tortured and destroyed, and here is why.

When DD was 18 months old, she was out in the back yard playing one day, and suddenly she started screaming, "BEES! BEES!" I ran to her and found her covered in fire ants up to her knees. That poor child had bites all over her little feet and legs. This was just about the time that fire ants had made their way up from the south and into Georgia, and I had never heard of them. But the very next day, there was a report on the news about the little devils, and I knew right away that they were what had gotten my sweet DD. The bites burned her for a long time the day she stepped on the mound, then the bites festered and were just gross looking. After that, they itched her for days. Ever since then, I have been a one-woman war machine against fire ants. When they build a mound in my yard, I take my trusty fire ant killer outside, and sprinkle it all around the mound, and as I do, I am doing my witchy voice and telling them, "chow time, my pretties," while laughing hysterically.

This is why I hate them so much, and the films mentioned in the link filled me with joy and satisfaction. Call me nuts, but I do so enjoy seeing them tortured. Sorry if I grossed you out with the link, didn't mean to. I thought it was a beautiful sight!..LOL!

Didn't gross me out, but I still think the choice of music was too funny, and wonder about who made the films!! LOL Yeah, I gotcha on the one-woman crusade thing! I'm there! But you are a little nuts, BB, that's what we love about you ;o)) Well, and I might add, it takes one to know one! "chow time, my pretties" LOLOL (and I am sorry about what you and DD went through, it was awful for both of you) Sleep tight and don't let the...no, I *won't* say it...Just have a good night's rest, BB! Fire ants are horrible little critters that deserve to be blown up. Now, as you know, Tami is a staunch environmentalist, so I try to find ways to kill critters that we hate in ways that do not damage the enviroment. For instance, house flies. Rather than use spray that will harm people and pets, use extra strong-hold hairspray. They can't fly any more after getting hit with a little spritz. For ants, I have used uncooked grits poured over the mound. This supposedly makes their little stomachs explode when they eat it. I can't guarantee that it works, but I noticed that after trying this on a particularly large mound, there were no more ants. Of course, I did not see any little ant corpses, either.

I don't like the little critters either.

I think the first video--attacking the fire ants--would make a neat video game.

Hi, BB. I didn't go to the site because my computer is so slow I thought I might never make it back here. LOL But I hate fire ants and any other ant for that matter. We always have to fight those little tiny ones. I make it my goal to kill any one of them that has the audacity to march around on my kitchen counter and in my bathroom. I don't gather up 5,000 of my closest friends and invade their space. LOL--Pat

You do have a valid reason to dislike those nasty critters, Beebs!! Your poor baby girl.

You didn't gross me out - I simply just didn't find the film clips very interesting! Guess I was expecting to see something "dramatic" happen!! LOL

I have an ant hill (not fire ants) under one of my half-barrel planters out front - I kill them off every year, but I guess not totally since they come back again! What kind of grits do you use, Dannie? The quick cooking kind or the other?!!

OK, now we're cooking here! It does occur to me that it's getting that time of year when I start to find ants in my kitchen. And it is next to impossible to get rid of them. I can keep them at bay, but the minute I'm not looking, they're in there again. Now: Dannie: is it instant or regular grits? I've got about half a bag of the regular grits, and I'm thinking it could get a little messy, but should I should dump that sucker around and underneath my sink area? Of course, then might rats be attracted to the grits? Of course I'll have 3 healthy cats living with me this summer...Am I seeing an end of an ant problem, or the beginning of something even more menacing??? LOL Once again, life in the fast lane...Seren
