Who remembers Cheetah, the monkey in the Tarzen movies? Not the one in the Johnny Weismuller(sp?) movies, but the one who did 12 Tarzen movies starring Lex Barker. Ladies, can you believe that monkey -- or is he called an "ape?" -- anyway, that monkey (or whatever) is still alive! He turned 71 today, and is believed to be the oldest living monkey of his type. DH just read the article online and called to tell me about it. And get this.....the article said that back in his "movie star" days, he loved drinking beer and smoking cigars. However, now that he is retired, he lives in Palm Springs, CA, and spends his days painting, playing the piano and looking at magazines. What a life, eh?

Just wanted to pass that along....thought you all might like to hear about it.

Along those same lines, I heard that June Carter Cash died yesterday and so did Robert Stack. Cash was 73 and Stack was 84. Sad....

Okay, gotta shower now. See ya a bit later.....BB

Isn't he a champanzee? Anyway, thank you for the interesting information. Ahhh..to have the life of a famous monkey..LOL!!

I hadn't heard that about June Carter Cash or Robert Stack. It is sad to see these people, whom I still see in my mind as young, age and pass on....Susie

Hugs,

I heard about June Carter Cash and Robert Stack this morning. I don't know what the life expectancy of an ape, monkey, chimp is but Cheetah's long life must have something to do with cigars--they kept George Burns and Groucho Marx going. Of course, they didn't do much good for Bill Clinton's political life. Kathey

What an ape! Its kinda weird how you find some things out, isn't it? We in Tennesse will sure miss June Carter Cash. Shes been such a large part of the country scene for generations. She will be missed. Jackie

Thank you, Suze! YES! He is a Chimpanzie(sp?)! I knew "monkey" wasn't right, but couldn't remember what he was!

I was especially shocked to hear that Robert Stack was 84! I still pictured him as that nutty guy in "Airplane." Yes, sad.....BB
