I got to meet Tami! Dannie brought her to lunch! What a sweetheart and what a gorgeous young woman! She has the most beautiful skin and absolutely the 'bestest' smile, and a personality to go along with it -- friendly, outgoing, relaxed and very intelligent. We had the best time!

We ate lunch in the cafeteria, and I think we all had different things. I had a grilled chicken leg, steamed veggies, cornbread and something called a Kanosha (is that right, Dannie?). All of it was wonderful, except that it was cold. It was SOOOO cold in that place, OMG! My hands were numb by the time we left. Tami was freezing too. Next time, we will remember our heavy coats.

After lunch, we did some shopping -- oh dear, the things we bought and the things we SAW! This place is an international marketplace extraordinaire, and has just about anything you would ever want (except cherries, which Dannie wanted badly..:-(..). We saw things in that produce department that I have never seen before, and I thought I had see it all at the gourmet market I normally go to. Some of the things were downright obscene looking!..LOL! We had fun picking things up and feeling and smelling them and laughing about them.

Tami, the kind heart that she is, got a little upset when she wandered into the seafood department and saw some of the live seafood, struggling to escape from their bondage, and some live crabs that had lost a leg or two. We decided they shouldn't let people see that kind of stuff. We want our seafood DEAD before we look at it! And we want those eyes removed from that smoked fish too!....LOL!

We bought some neat stuff -- too much to name -- lots of good fruit and vegetables, and some special pita chips, that Tami told me were very good, and lots of other stuff. We shopped for about an hour after lunch, and it was so much fun.

If I have left out anything (and I'm sure I have), maybe Dannie or Tami will come along and fill in the gaps.

I will check in later. Hope everyone has had a good day. I have!...BB

Oh geez, the only one I can remember right now is Jack fruit. Ugly, UGLY fruit! There were lots more -- maybe Tami's young memory will tell you some others.

Evening good so far -- just been on the computer all evening! DH is watching TV. DD is home tonight and doing her laundry..:-). Hope you have a good evening too...BB

Why didn't you ask them to turn up the AC to make it warmer in there? I always ask whenever I'm uncomfortable in a restaurant. Whether it's the AC too cold, or a ceiling fan blowing on me, or an air duct right over my head; I always ask and I have always gotten good results.

They have always been polite about it and in one of the Applebee's here, the manager even came over later to see if I was more comfortable when it had been freezing in there before.

Remember, we're in our 50's now and we must demand more respect!! Oh the power of the aged..LOL!! I also refuse tables that are near the kitchen or for whatever reason isn't to my liking. Am I turning into a tyrant in my "mature" age?? Heck yes!! LOL!!

Sounds like you all three had a wonderful time together. Sure wish I had been there to enjoy it with you and to meet Tami too.

~~~Love, Susie
Good gracious Dannie!! You sure bought some yummy stuff today!! Just thinking about it is making me salivate..LOL!! I've always loves cherry preserves or jelly with the big cherries in it. Oh that is sooooo good on toast with butter, real butter not that margerine stuff!!
Haven't had that in many years and anytime I've bought cherry jelly here it isn't nearly as good as what I used to get in the grocery store in NJ when I used to live there. I don't remember the brand name, but it sure was delicious!! Now see what you've done to me?!! I have to get these sinful thoughts out of my head now and it's all your fault..LOLOL!!
So glad you gals had such a good time today though.....Susie
When you first said "ugly fruit" I thougt you meant the Ugly Fruit. Do you know it?
http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Study/6779/durian
Then I looked up Jackfruit which I had never heard of;
ARTOCARPUS INTEGRIFOLIA - Jackfruit, Jakfruit
A large interesting relative of the breadfruit. Cold sensitive (27°F) but will grow in protected areas. It bears the largest of tree fruits, on the trunk and larger branches. Spiked on the outside and weighing up to 80 lbs., the flesh is edible, soft and quite aromatic; the seeds are chestnut-like when roasted. The tree grows wild in India and S.E. Asia. Will grow in Florida and Southern California but not to its full size. Only care required is watering and fertilization.
Learn something new everyday! KaCee
Poof!!! I'm gone!!
BB, that is just how I had Tami pictured. What a fun time you all must have had. The market sure sounds better than WalMart shopping. LOL Have a great weekend.--Pat
