Good morning. I came in earlier and was off to do chores, but I am having some problems with my hand so it makes doing just about anything a little painful. I thought I had jammed my thumb, and I may have, for it is swollen and painful to use it. I had no idea how useful thumbs were until this morning. Anyway, I am back to see what is happening here.

The farmer's markets you speak of are very different from what we have in this area. Our farmer's market has actual farmers (or their wives and children) with their trucks loaded down with produce from their farms which they hope to sell. This is located just off the interstate. We do have a produce market which also sells antiques, plants and garden ornaments. That is nice. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to a Fresh Market which sounds more like your markets with a bakery, deli, etc. This is a chain, I believe. I do like it.

I plan to make Kacee's Blackbottoms today and some more of BB's Pimento cheese to have on hand. I am going to share the cupcakes at work and DS2 is coming to visit this week, and I am sure he will help with those.

I think I will try to use my left hand and get back to some chores. HAGD

Sure hope that hand gets better, Bren.

I guess I am lucky since I have a fresh fruit market just right up the street a few blocks from my house. They have the very best tomatoes and corn that you've ever tasted! <>

Both of those recipes sound great, so will try to make them next week when company arrives.

Take care, esp. of that thumb!

Hugs, Shari

Actually, Bren, since you are having thumb problems, I could probably make it up to your house by dinner time, and help you with those cupcakes and the pimento cheese! LOL oh, guess you don't need help in the *eating* of them, do you?

Our farmers market is *supposed* to be as you describe yours, but, in fact, two large farms seem to sort of control it, and it's mostly just their stuff. However, individual farmers sell from the backs of their pick-ups at the sides of the highways. The Atlanta Market is just a lot of fun to visit; it isn't where I would go for the fresh local vegetables, tho they probably have those, too.

Be careful doing those chores left-handed! That can be hard on the whole body! Seren

Hi Brenda, our little farmers market is made up of local farmers. It is set up under tents on Saturday on property next to city hall. Runs from May to October. Not too much in the way of produce there this morning, it is still very early in the season for us. Almost everything is organic. We did buy some beautiful fresh spinach. There must have been a couple of dozen vendors selling flowers, produce, baked goods, jams and jellies, plants, garden ornaments and a couple selling ready to eat food, breakfast burritos and such made while you wait. Smelt really good even though we had just eaten!

In Seattle they have the big Pikes Place Market where I could spend days looking at everything. Here's their site.

Hope you enjoy the Black Bottom Cupcakes. Mine are all gone :-( Just as well!!

I hope that your hand and thumb feels better! Ciao! KaCee

Poof!!! I'm gone!!
