My little dog Shelby got out of the fence in my back yard. I called and called and she was no where to be found. Being in a wheelchair, I couldn't get out and look for her. I called my neighbor on one side, there phone was busy, kept calling, it's still busy now. My kids weren't home and I was frantic. I kept wheeling back and forth from the front door to the patio door and you know the kind of things that can come into your mind at times like this.

I was wondering if I'd ever see my precious little furbaby again.

Then I thought about my neighbor on the other side of me, their dog has gotten out of their fence a few times too. She was home and went right out to look for me. Soon after, here she came carrying Shelby. Oh Great Joy!!! She found her a full block and a half away, but Shelby came right to her when she called her name.

Now the little stinker is all tucker out from her adventure. Kids, what's a parent to do?!!

As soon as my neighbor gets off the daggoned phone, I'll see if they can come over tomorrow to find where Shelby got out of the fence and block it up.

So that was my bit of "excitement" for today..and..I hope I never have to go through that again!! I can't wait to get this darned cast off!!!

Anyway, I just had to talk about what happened, so of course I came straight here. Thank you for listening dear friends.

~Susie~

PS...thank you Dannie and Shari for your kind words in regards to how boring I am or am not. "They" say that a bored person is a boring person, so I must be really boring because I'm really bored!! That's where that thought came from anyway.

PPS...one of my DSIL's just got home and got my message and just called and he's coming over now to find the hole in the fence and block it up. Whew!! Problem solved!! What do people do without friends and family. Thank goodness I'll never have to know the answer to that.

Hugs,

..

Oh Susie! That is so frightening! I can imagine how frantically you were looking for little Shelby. How many times have I gone through a variation of that with all the pets we've had, and the tears from the kids, and then if you find the little critter, you want to tie it up so it can't scare you like that again. Only once did we not find our dog alive, and that was our black Scottie Angus, who had drowned, but I won't talk about that! Just so glad you found your Shelby! and yes, I'll just bet she's all exhausted from her escapade! What was going on in that little doggie head?? I remember once we had a house full of company, half of whom didn't speak English, and Angus got loose. Well, what can you do, you search frantically, but you have a crowd of company to be cared for, and you have to get on with your day. We had another dog, too, sweet little schnauzer Chloe, and she was just standing at the open gate looking lost...(don't know how the gate was opened, company, you know!!). So we loaded up 2 van loads of company off to see the sights of our fair city, and about 5 blocks away, I saw a black shadow in a neighbor's azaleas, and there was that Angus! We stopped the cars, he came running, everybody cheered, we drove him back home, and then continued our day. My heart went through too too much that morning, as did yours today. Shelby, Shelby, Shelby. Glad your DSiL is coming to plug her escape route. You'll have to have a stern talk with her tomorrow. hhhmmmph. between giving her kisses, no doubt..these pets! You'll sleep good tonight, Friend! Seren

EEEEKK and you can't get out to look I feel for you. Glad everything turned out ok. Whew.

When my kids were younger and not in a wheelchair or restricted by anything but me, they would say "Mom, I'm bored" I use to say only boring people get bored. That usually got them up off their duff and found something to do. But in a wheelchair and nothing to do but think...now that would be boring......

We had to have our little dog chained when she went out or it was belly to the ground and away she would go.

Well, Susie, at least you were not bored for a while today! Poor 'mommy'. Our furbabies can certainly cause us anguish when they come up missing, can't they?!! It is so easy to make ourselves ill with worry over them...the precious little stinkers. Bet you wore a path between doors today!!

Have you noticed all of the things you can think of 'to do if only you could'?! The funny thing is that many of them would not get done if you could do them - nor would you even think about them! Strange creatures, we humans!! Have you done any of that counted cross-stitch or other craft projects you think you don't have time for when you are able to be 'out and about'?!

Hang in there, SusieQ - you'll be able to become a gad-about-town before long!

Aww Susie, I can just imagine how you felt, not knowing where she was and not being able to get out there and look for yourself. Scared and frustrated. Thank goodness she is home safe and sound and kudos for your neighbor for helping you out and for DSiL for coming right over to fix the problem so you(and Shelby) don't have to go through this again! Oh Susie, you poor thing! I am very familiar with that frantic feeling. My little Maltese, Bandit, was run over and killed one week after we had moved to this house because someone (the gas man, we think) left the fence gate open and I didn't know it. I'll never forget that awful morning that Bandit went missing. DMIL came over and we searched and searched for Bandit, then came the sad discovery. Sorry to tell such a "downer" of a story. Sure am happy yours had a happy ending and that little Shelby is safely back home. Hugs, BB
