Back to normal?

Maybe things will get back to normal this week. The last couple of weeks have been a combination of ups and downs. My oldest kitty, Inky, (the one I ran over last November) has been very sick with kidney failure, and I have been giving him some pretty intensive care the last few weeks. However, last week he stopped eating, and I had to have him put to sleep last Friday. I've never done that with an animal before, couldn't bring myself to do it, figured letting nature take its course was best. Not the case Friday, Inky was suffering and hanging on by a thread, so I took him to the vet. I held him in my arms while they gave him an injection in his hip that made him doze off to sleep, then they took the sleeping kitty and injected the med that stopped his heart. So much more peaceful than the way I saw it done many times when I worked for a vet years ago. I dreamed about Inky a couple of nights later, he was fat, healthy, and happy, and I believe that is how he is again now. Bless his old heart, he had survived so many things while he was alive and I think he kept hanging on, trying to survive the latest illness but it was just too much. He was a good friend for 18 years.

On a happier note, we had gone to visit my mother in Kansas on Mother's Day weekend, and she came home with us and stayed a week. This was the first trip she has made since my stepfather passed away last October. She hasn't wanted to take any trips since he died, so this was a "big deal" for us. She had a good time and I think it did her a world of good, will give her some new things to think about and remember. She got to spend time with this wonderful great-grandson of hers who lives down here, which I think was her main motivation for coming.

Raining here in North Texas this morning. Hooray! We need it. I had just re-potted some flowers yesterday and set out three tomato plants. The rain will be good for them.

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to the board to try and catch up.

Hugs.

Jeanie, so sorry to hear your news about Inky, but sometimes you have to intervene to give your animal friends a peaceful release when their life becomes too painful. I'm sure he was a good and beloved companion for all those years.

On the positive side, it's good your mother was able to come for a visit. Being with all of you, and especially with her great-grandson, must have done her so much good. And, if rain is what you needed, glad you got it! You are sure welcome to what we've been having! Surprisingly, the weatherman told us last night that, after all the rain and flooding we've had in the last weeks, we are still a couple of inches below the normal for this time of the year! That is so hard to believe.

Here's hoping that your life is very quiet and peaceful this week. Seren

Jeannie, I hope you have a normal week and weekend. I'm so

very sorry about Inky, I remember how badly you felt when you

had the accident with him. I've just done the same thing for

our two dogs and I know how you are feeling. I am really

happy that your mom has come out and visited you. That is

wonderful and good for both of you.

Hugs,

I'm so sorry about your little kitty Jeanie. It's so very sad when we lose one of our furbabes. That was almost six years ago and I still miss her on occasion. They stay in our hearts forever. {{{hugs}}} to you as you heal from this pain.

That is good news about your mom though. Glad you were able to get her away for a whole week. I'm sure that did her some good. Hopefully you'll be able to get her out doing other things too now. It just takes time to heal.
