The sun is shining, more yard work on my "to do" list. The weekend was quiet around our place. Not so for DD and DSiL. On Saturday DD went to the Folklife Festival in Downtown Seattle with some out of town visitors, DSiL was working. When she got home, she noticed the deadbolt wasn't locked on the door just the doorknob one. She thought "can't believe I didn't lock that". Inside the first thing she noticed was a small TV that was usually in their office/guest room was on the dining room table "What?" Well, you got it, someone had broken in while they were gone. Came through the open kitchen window after throwing the screen in the sideyard. Luckily her friends were there and the guy went through the house and made sure no one was there. The police came and took fingerprints but didn't give her much hope. Obviously kids and on foot as they didn't take anything big or hard to get rid of or hide. A large jar that DSiL threw all his change in(probably around $100 as itwas almost full)DD's digital camera, several CD's. They dumped her jewellery boxes out all over her bed but she had anything expensive on her or it was elsewhere in the house. They rummaged through their guests bags but didn't take anything. She said "this wouldn't have happened if Peyton(dog)was still here" and she is probably right. They live in a regular neighborhood not isolated or anything but the window was on the back side of the house. She is worried about being alone when DSiL goes out of town for business. Poor girl. It is such a feeling of violation to think of strangers in your home going through your stuff. She couldn't believe they (the thieves)locked the door on their way out!

Well, off to do some *stuff*. Ciao, KaCee

I had a run in with a couple of little bratty boys the other day. They were here visiting from out of state. And it was funny. They were running up and hitting a big set of chimes I have outside the front door. There was no breeze. I asked them if they were done having fun and they kind of smarted off....."well what you gonna f'n do about it?" They were probably around 9 or 10 years old.

I told them I wouldn't have to do anything because all I have to do is show the cops my security tapes and the cops would handle them. I told them that anytime there was anything moving on any side of my house it started recording anything that moved. I didn't know who they were in town visiting but a short while later a bunch of little boys on bikes were accross the street pointing and talking so now I knew were they were staying...lol...and the whole town knows I have security cameras................which I don't. Might be quiet around here for a while....lol

I am sorry to hear what happened to your DD. I have read that it would be very rare if there was a second break in. But the reason for my story is that now security cameras hooked to a vcr are very cheap. It is not real high tech but they can help. Like the ones they use for watching baby sitters. They can also be used to point at the outside of doors etc....

It will take her a while before she feels comfortable along again. Janet

Ahhh, Kacee - so sorry that had to happen to spoil everyone's weekend. and I don't blame her for being nervous - it's really hard to think of all the "what ifs". thankfully, her friends were with her when she had to check the house. I hope she's able to get over this and find comfort in her home again.

hugs to you both

JJ
