Clocks

A couple of weeks ago I told you about the clock I had in this room that was a free battery operated one that came in a box of stuff we ordered for the ambulance. Well it hung there for months and never had the right time. Most clocks are right at least 2 times a day even if they arn't running...not this on it was aways wrong. So, while we were on vacation I bought one of those round $4.99 ones and put it up in here and it kept perfect time. But.... instead of a slight tick once in a while when the hands were in a certain place, like some battery clocks this one went TICK,TICK,TICK.......above the neighbors dog and everything. So I took it and put it in the spare bedroom(or should I say the spare room the bed is gone..lol) and without the furnace running I can still here it ticking......this thing is loud......

The free one? Well I just set it and laid it on the dresser behind me and day before yesterday thought I might as well get it in the trash. Yes, you guessed it the time was right. Must be a fluke and the time and the clock were in sync.......lol...So I laid it on the counter in the kitchen and still right on time. I guess I will bring it back in here and see if it just has an aversion to hanging. If it still works hanging then fine. But, while trying to declutter my life the last thing I need is an 8" round clock laying around somewhere. But I know DH he will say......."It is still working it shouldn't be tossed".

The battery may be weak, Janet.

I had a battery operated clock in my classroom that did exactly the same thing. There was something about being hung and the strength/weakness of the battery that would keep the hands from circulating at the correct speed ... especially if it was hanging. When it stopped telling the correct time, the children wold remind me that it was time to change the battery.

Try it.

What is so funny is that I have a couple of battery clocks, and they are just cheap ones that I had for about 3 years and always kept time on the same battery. They are funny. Just like digital cameras.

I know a couple of people that have to put batteries in their digital cameras every month if they want them to work right. I replace the ones in my Canon T50 about once a year not because they are dead far from it I use those in those battery clocks and they go another year or so. And I do tons of film a year. One more strike against getting a digital camera. Looks like I will never have a really good reason to change to digital. I keep finding more against than for......

If my DSis sees this I can hear her now....."Well I have a picture right now I don't have to wait for the developing or anything." My answer to that is that her digital photos are really awful all redish or greenish you know.(That I don't tell her) What I do tell her is "I can have instant pictures too I have a Polaroid." She just goes....."HRUUPPH!!!"

Quick, janet - toss it if it doesn't work perfectly. clocks are like hangers - they multiply in the dark!!!!! After I reached 30, I stopped counting the number of clocks in my mom's hpuse this spring!!! i came home and decluttered the clock area of my life as fast as possible (but, of course, I had brought 3 home with me - geez!!!!!!!).

good luck!!

I know what you mean, Janet. We are still "getting rid" of stuff. I have a coffee maker and an artificial plant at the ready, ready for trash pick up on Friday. DH saw it this AM and wanted to know what is wrong with the cofee maker. It has been dripping coffee for 5 years. Of course it only drips if you try to pour it out faster than 1 drop a minute. Gee, maybe he would like to take it to the golf course for the guys to use.

LOL, our drip coffee pot is the same darn way. If you try to pour a cup it is all over the place. Now maybe it is my upbringing. If I had been rich and made to pour tea from a silver tea service and learned that pouring slow was good because you didn't have anything else to do the rest of the day.....lol.....

Wrap it in newspapers then put it in say 3 plastic bags that you bring home from the grocery store....go out on the sidewalk and whack that sucker with a hammer.......then you can say.... Gee, Honey it broke and it can't be fixed guess we will have to toss it..what a shame.....If he is like mine he will go to a shelf in the garage and bring in a couple that he picked up at a garage sale just in case the pot on that $15 coffee maker broke.....say maybe about 7 years ago.....get out the hammer.......lol....Janet

Have a nice day !.
