Good morning, Bugs! Well, as all of you in chat last night know, I had a VERY hard time getting in there....and then...well, I just HAD to have color, so what happened when I FINALLY found the done button? I hit it & POOF! My computer turned black, made an extremely loud noise, then just went blank! I honestly thought that it had exploded! So, I rebooted, and that process took me about 20 min. When I finally got back in the chat room, Pab and KT were the only ones left. We chatted until about 10:30. So, that's my sad story! ): Anyway, thanks to Lynda and Kt for helping me get in there at all!

This morning I made a grocery store run. Have a feeling that we're going to have another bad thunderstorm like we did yesterday afternoon. I did not like being out in that at all.

Guess I'll work on bills this afternoon. <>

Have a great day,

Hugs,Shari

Ok, I don't think that was MSN that made your computer do that. Has that happened before? Where did the noise come from? If it was the hard drive I would get it backed up now and be prepared to replace it.

Good Luck.....

My old computer from the day I got it would just go black. For 2 years I fought that thing. And you wonder why I know about the inside of the computer. That was my first computer and it started out that way. One day after sending it back and hours on the phone. The young man that put my new CD-RW drive in said......about that problem with your monitor going black. 2 power cords came with it.....????? I never thought about it...why did it have to. Well you know houses unless are on cement have vibrations, I checked it and sure enough the difference in the plugs the old one would hang like it was going to come out and the other one you really had to pull to get off.........DUH.....HEY,LADY IS IT PLUGGED INTO THE WALL? lol......

Even after an earthquake this one is still plugged in.....lol........whew.....I am so glad to be rid of that computer and Windows 98. The young man that got it for Christmas 2001 is still using it and still loving it.....sweet.........lol....Janet

Thanks, KT, I am sure you are absolutely correct! The noise came right from the monitor. No, it hasn't happened before, but I am constantly getting error messages, illegal procedure message, etc. I am afraid that I know just enough about computers to be dangeros! Another thing, I've had this computer since 1999. It has been used by DD, DS, their friends! etc, etc, etc. I am sure that the memory is just plain overloaded. But, everytime I try to FIX something, it seems to make it worse. A friend of mine has a son who is in the Computer Fixit business. I'm going to give him a call and see if he can clean up my act. I'm also considering getting a new one.

Thanks again!

You are a funny bug! I laughed at your tale about the computer blowing up. Now how about some advice, since you are so knowledable.

How did you "finally" get the "done" button to appear? DH and I tried to raise the options page and it only went up just so far, never enough for lthat done button to appear. I need to know this.

Hi Lanie, I hit the maximize button and then the page covered the whole screen and I was able to scroll down to the "Done" button.

BTW, when would the best time to call you be? How about Friday? Will you be home in the afternoon?

Talk to you later,

Hugs, Shari

Lanie, if I may butt in here, you need to shrink that page to see the 'done' button. When you go back there again, go back to that page and put your cursor all the way to the top and when you see the little vertical line with arrows at both ends, left click your cursor and hold it down, now pull it down a little and that page will come down with it, then scroll further down the page with the scroll bar. You may have to go back and shrink it again before you'll see the 'done' button at the bottom...Susie

You do have two options that will allow you to see the scroll bar at the left of the "options" page.

1) You may click on the 'maximize' button just to the left of the 'exit' button at the upper right of the page

or

2)you may move your cursor to the top of the page until you see the double headed arrow appear, then just left click with your mouse and drag the top down.

If you choose option #2 you will then have to move your cursor to the header bar across the top of the page and drag the entire page to the top of your monitor's screen.

Any time you do not see a scroll bar on a page (at almost any site!) you can use that maximize button to force the scroll bars at both the side and bottom (if there are any!) to be seen.

My advice to any of you who want to play with that format before our next chat is to go there and do just that. It is a private room and no one will disturb you while you are there! Play with the color and type of font, the sounds, etc.!!

For those of you who are thinking "Huh? What chat? What room?"....I established a 'community' site on MSN a while ago where we could leave messages for Franni. It is a private MSN community and not listed anywhere. If you do not already have an MSN Passport you will need to establish one first. If you are interested in joining us there contact me and I will send you an "invitation" so you can bypass the community application form. If you decide to use the link that the other gals may have given you, you will be instructed to "apply to join the community". That application will be directe to me. If you do apply, please identify yourself as being a ladybug and tell me who you are. No one can enter the community that I have not authorized to do so and I will not let 'strangers' in - I want it to remain completely safe! Once you have signed in completely be sure to bookmark the site - you will NOT be able to find it by searching the MSN community list! If any of you are having trouble contact me!

Hugzzzzzzz to all...

Kt and everybody else,

first Kt, I Kulani signed up to join the Frannie site didn't know to identify myself as a ladybug but you will recognize my name. I didn't disguise myself any further than I usually do. And for the rest of you Chat will be confusing until the iVillage gets theirs back up and running so we can be confused in the normal way on the regular site once again. I do love the confusion of the Chats. Its like reading the TVguide channel and making the titles of the shows read like a sentence instead of show names sometimes you come up with some funny statements. The energy that flows is invigorating and sometimes mind boggeling but always fun. And Shari if you decide to buy a new computer DON'T buy a Gateway. I did mean to shout just not real loud and scare any one too bad its just that I feel real strong about this at the moment. I know there are many out there that are working properly and have been for a long time but this one hasn't from the moment it was delivered. The only thing that works real well is the automatic cup holder. lol lol lolbye for now Kulani

Hi, Kulani. I found your application last evening after chat...sorry, I had not looked before or I'd have given you authorization sooner. You are okay to visit that community now - to post to Franni or to join us in Chat!
