Crime spree right here in River City

Very early this morning a man attempting to hijack a car shot a woman 3 times and when another woman stopped to help her he hijacked her Caravan. That was in Lake Elmo, MN, Just across the river from here. This morning he showed up robbing a bank in Hudson about 3 blocks from where I put the children on their bus. He set the van he hijacked on fire and they (the police) have no idea where he is. He may be loose in the community just looking for a car or home to hide in. I have my doors locked. I was working in my garage and had all doors wide open as usual but felt it might be wise to use a little caution. I live a couple of miles away from the scene of the crime. DD is picking the children up at school rather than having them take the bus. Their bus stop is just to close to the area. I will drive down to the bus stop where Colton is dropped off so he won't have to walk the block and a half home this afternoon. I am actually glad I will not be having to go to pick up the 2 younger children. I would make a nice target for a hijacker in my Big Blue Ox.

We live in such a peaceful communitee it seems strange when bad things happen. Colt had field and track day and I had to drive Belly to school so we went and shared lunch with him and could see the van burning from his school. There were swat teams helecopters and police and fire trucks all over the area. The woman he shot is expected to live but is in critical condition. Wonder what sets someone like this off on a crime spree? I wonder if he will be caught or if he will get free to commit more crimes some where else?

Since I will not be able to work in my garage as planned today I might as well think of something else to do. We still are not sure where we will be living come August. Most likely in our twin home or the one next door to it. Either way we really need to get a lot of stuff sold, thrown out or packed for storage. Might as well start in the storage room this afternoon then.

Isabel is graduating from preschool tonight. They make quite a deal over it. She will wear a cap and gown and walk down an aisle to the stage sing some songs and then when their name is called walk across the stage to accept the diploma. Just like a real graduation. There are treats afterwards. She is pretty excited. Tomorrow is her picnic and then no more school for her. The other children are in school until the 6th.

Well that is about all the news from Contraryville. I will keep you posted on the 'suspect' when I hear anything. MM

Those graduation ceremonies for the youngsters are so cute and it gives them a good feeling of importance..Susie

Hi Susuie Hope you are feeling OK and healing from your surgery and falls.

It has been an unusual day here. I do not like very much staying behind locked doors. The last news report the suspect or suspects have not been caught yet. He/they are considered very dangerous as he is now heavily armed. It was an armoured truck that was robbed not the bank as I stated earlier. He robbed it in the bank parking lot and got the weapons the armoured truck drivers carry. They believe he may have stolen a car from a dealership nearby and have fled the area however they continue to search at this hour. They basicaly closed the neighborhood around DD's old house. They didn't bring the children that live there home on the bus all were picked up by parents. DD was so glad she had already arranged to pick them up. So I am not sure but think that things will go back to normal tomorrow with buses running as usual.

Isabel's graduation was so cute. They sang YMCA and did the actions. They all walked across a bridge from early child hood to regular school. One little boy stood up big and tall and did a thumbs up for everyone. How sweet. Isabel was adorable.

I have had a funny day of getting started at a lot of things but not accomplishing much. Just too much going on. Tomorrow is Belly's picnic so I won't get much done then either. Oh well soon it will be a new week. Will have lots to keep me busy then.

Everyone here in the area are being cautious. Listening to the news now. I drive a GMC Suburban a rather lovely bright royal blue. It is huge so I call her Babe the Blue Ox. MM

Good Morning Mary...Geez what going's on..sounds like the kind of carrying on that happens here in good old NY, although lately everyones attention seems to be the weather.

I love those "moving up" ceremonies and the kids at that age are so adorable.

Hope they catch this guy/guys soon and you can get on with your regular routine. Take care of yourself and the kids.

It made the news down here. I haven't listened to the news this morning yet. I wonder if they caught the guy.

Keep the doors and windows locked. Kathey

Gosh, MM, that is unsettling, to say the least. Yes, DO keep your doors locked and your garage doors closed. I am also one to leave my garage doors open all day, but when I read reports like the one you gave, I am reminded to be more cautious. You just never know when some crazed nutcase (probably on drugs) will victimize you.

Please be careful, MM, and let us know when they catch this person. Sure hope it's soon.

Congratulations to Belly the graduate....Hugs, BB

They have not caught the perpetrater as of this morning but watch out Kathey he may be down in your area by now. I am sure he didn't wait around here long especially if he had wheels. The crimes were commited within about 3 blocks of 2 freeway accesses. Have a good day Kathey. MM

Oh Mary, how horrible. I hope that they catch that creep soon. I remember Lake Elmo from when I lived in Minnesota. Please be careful out there.

Congratulations to Isabel. They have graduation ceremonies at pre-school here. So cute! Enjoy the program.

Hugs,

Dannie
