It is one of those things that either you like or you hate.....I am the latter......but DH has liked that stuff since I can remember. He also likes pickled pigs feet......

The fish to me are not any eaisier to look at but....it is a practically free food and a lot of people do like it...... here goes

We have used bass, walleye or any other white meat fish....(not catfish)

1 Qt. fish cut into about 1" pieces

5 and an eighth cups of pickling salt

White vinegar to cover.

Disolve salt add fish and vinegar and put in frig for 5 days.

Day 6:

Drain and rinse well and soak for a half hour in cold water then drain

1 cup of white vinegar

half cup of sugar

onion as much as you like

1 Tablespoon pickling spice or a little more if you like.

Set in frig for 4 days and then eat......enjoy.

Very cheap and DH says very good......EEEUUUU if he says so..........lol.....Janet

I've had herring--I wonder if that is the recipe for pickled herring. I do prefer herring in the cream sauce. Herring is a good luck thing on New Year's Day in some cultures. Kathey

I hope you are talking about Tiger FISH and not real Tiger meat! If you mean the latter, please tell me where you buy it?...LOL!

I don't think I have ever had pickled fish. My DD has gotten into sushi since she went away to college, and since she's been home, she's been buying it from the grocery store, which has fresh sushi every day. She offered to let me have a bite, but when I smelled it, I gave it back to her. No thanks....I want my fish and meat cooked too!....BB

Hi BB! We're all sushi eaters here, and I like it with the fish, but you can get it with just veggies. Kinda bland to me, but still. We get it for lunch a lot because we can get it at our grocery, too. In fact, I'm remembering when my DD went up to NC to school, at first she couldn't find a sushi bar. She looked on the internet for a grocery selling it, and the nearest was in your DD's college town. Not far, but a bit far to go for sushi! Luckily she found a local place not long after, and the first time she went, there was a car parked outside with a personalized license tag: "Ladybug"! She called to ask if I knew if any Bugs were living there. A tip: don't smell the sushi first!

I wondered about the tiger meat, too. Seren
