Good morning!

I slept later than usual this morning, until 8:30, and have been drinking coffee and reading the posts from last night. Lots of fun stuff on the board yesterday -- well, if you don't count the baby throw-up.

Jello shooters.....I had never had one until we went to the Jimmy Buffett concert last month. The people (20 somethings) who were tailgating next to us in the parking lot had some orange jello shooters and were kind enough to share. Very good, but lethal, because you can't even taste the vodka.

I am still waiting for Judith Light's name to pop up in Kacee's movie post. When she does, I'll jump in...lol!

I'll be working on my pantry again this morning. I have been thinking and puzzling how to store all the spices and extracts so that they are in order and can be easily found. I think DH is going to run 3 narrow shelves above one of the main shelves for me (back and both sides). That way, I think I can spot what I need without too much trouble. Up until now, I have kept all the spice jars and bottles in a big bowl, and what a hassle, having to pull out and go through that bowl every time I need a certain spice. I think the narrow shelf idea will work, but does anyone else have a better idea? Where is Francine when I need her? sigh....

I'm going to get dressed now, then get busy finishing up the work in the pantry. Have a great Sunday, bugs, and I'll be back in a bit......BB

Good morning, BB! Wondered where you were this morning! OK, you probably wouldn't guess it from my "board persona"!!! but I am a very organized person, well, at least when it comes to my spices, and pantry, well, usually. I have a lazy susan in my shelves, and the spices are alphabetized and it makes life much easier than in the bad old days when I just had them all mixed together. And it's just as easy to keep them in order as to just stick them anywhere, really. And I have all my canned foods in nice sections, the only problem is I don't rotate the old stuff to the front nearly as well as I should. Are you impressed???? Yeah, well, I know some bugs are out there right now saying, my goodness, are there women out there who just throw things helter skelter into their pantries??...but I'm pretty impressed with myself! (You can imagine the lack of other housekeeping skills that would make me feel so proud of these small accomplishments, but we won't go there...especially because today we need to be thinking about a PARTY!!!).

Nice how I brought the subject around to my topic of the day: shooters and pickled fish, jazz musicians and freshly baked bread...doesn't that sound like a party to you???? Just imagine the kind of person I would be if a DH and DDs hadn't tamed me down to some normalcy. LOL A week of being single and I'm slipping right into a strange but very happy place!

Big Doc gave old Maggie "what for" last night, and now everybody is calm and happy. Well, I think they are. We'll see as the day progresses. Little Homie's medicine kicking in yet? Don't work too hard, BB. There are people wanting to have fun today...they're lurking all over the place waiting to see what we'll pull together! LOL I need another cup of coffee now. Have a good Sunday, BB. Seren

Oh, Janet says she's sane. Should we believe her??? LOL

Good morning,BB.That kitchen cleanup business is a never ending job, isn't it? I really miss not having a pantry in this house. When we built we downsized and unfortunately the pantry was one of the things that had to be eliminated. Now we're trying to figure out how to add one! I guess the good news is that the more space you have the more *stuff* you tend to collect.

Good morning BB.

Do you have a door to your pantry? You could put some shelves on the inside of the door. One of the houses we lived in as kids had one of those enclosures that held an ironing board. Mom never used it and when my brother was in woodworking he made a spice cabinet out of it. Kathey

Seren, you are cracking me up this weekend. I think you have gone a little batty being there all alone! And what worries me the most is that I am following every word you say! ..LOL!

Thanks for the lazy susan tip -- I have seen those somewhere. Still trying to decide what to do, might go to Linens and Things later today and look.

Homie is asleep right now, so he's not scratching. I'll let you know.

The party menu sounds great -- How about I bring the margaritas?

Hope you have a good Sunday too......BB

Boy, that's the truth, Shari. You wouldn't believe all the stuff that has come out of this pantry. I had not cleaned it in over a year. It's looking good now though, and I am making a "menu" plan as I go along so I can start using the stuff that has been in there for a while. Like......4 jars of pizza sauce! Geez.....

Hope you have a good Sunday, Shari. I know you are looking forward to Lanie's visit! I'm excited and happy for both of you! Love hearing the stories after bugs get together....BB

Good idea, but unfortunately, that space is already being used. I have a big plastic hanging thingie that covers the area. It has (I think) 100 clean plastic pockets, from 5X5" to 2x2" in size. I keep lots of little odds and ends in it, buttons, magic markers, gem clips, things like that. Hmmmmmmm......but now you've got me thinking. I could move the big plastic thingie somewhere else. It has hangers that attach over the top of the door, so it is easily moved. Good thought, Kathey! It would be nice to if DH would build me some little narrow shelves on the inside of the door (with a lip on them so the spices wouldn't fall down when I opened the door). I think I might do that. Thanks!.....BB

I found this site, sounds like what you're doing... http://tinyurl.com/d6oj...the spice info is in the last paragraph of "Spin A Solution".

Have a good day dear friend, you're gonna love it when your pantry is all finished. See you later...Susie

Thank you, Susie. The lazy susan idea is a good one, but I have sooooo many spices (which I know are good, because I date them when I buy them) and extracts, I think I would need more than one lazy susan to hold everything. I think I am going to do what Kathey suggested and have DH build something to go inside the door. I have found another place to put the big hanging plastic thingie!

Hope you have a good day!....Hugs, BB
