It was a dark and stormy night

Around 2 this morning we had some huge storms move through here and more storms rolled through about an hour ago. The lightening was right on top of us. Yikes!

Not sure what I'll do today, probably just house stuff. I had planned to walk again this morning, but now I don't know. It depends on the weather.

It's a sad morning here. My poor old dog, Butter (almost 14) is in bad shape. His back right leg is almost completely useless, and he is having a real hard time getting around. I have a feeling we might be facing some difficult decisions very soon. If he gets to the point that he can't get around at all, I don't know what we will do. He is 95 pounds -- how will he go down the three steps in the back and into the yard to do his business? DH had to help him get down the steps this morning and back up them to come onto the porch. He is in the den right now, just relaxing on the floor, and I just gave him an aspirin (which we have been doing for a while, once at day, at the vet's recommendation), so I am hoping the aspirin will help him feel better soon. He is so pitiful. When DH finally got him back into the house this morning, he (DH) started to cry. It's just a sad morning here. Not sure what we will have to do, but friends, it is not looking good.

Well, sorry to come here and put such a damper on the day, but I just had to share my sad news and ask for prayers for my poor old loyal friend.

I'll be checking in later. Have a good day, everyone.....BB

Goodmorning BB. I was very sorry to hear about your dear Butter. My DH and I recently had to "do the deed" w/ 2 of our beloved pets. Our 14 year old Golden, Amber, and my DD's 17 year old cat,Marmalade.Luckly DD was home for an overnight and had one more sleep w/ her boy. She had him since she was 3.Try to be strong and do what is best for Butter, I'll be sending prayers your way. Know he has a beautiful Golden Girl named Amber waiting in haven to play w/ him, Amber was a wonderful dog who love everyone. Hugs, Patti

That's why I don't have any pets now; I couldn't handle putting one down or having one run away again.

Could you put a ramp on the steps--just a piece of plywood--for when he goes out and comes back in.

I hope the rest of your day is more cheery. Kathey

BB you almost had me crying too, when you said about your husband crying! That is sad! We are expecting rain today and tomorrow. I hope it is not bad because I have a new client today and I have to drive her around! Her name is Ann. She had an accident in Feb. and is now scared to drive. I talked to her last night and she sounds very friendly she is 76. She is looking forward to meeting me! I'm looking forward to helping her! I just hate driving in hard rain! Yuck to that part! I get to come home after I drop her off at her tutoring job, which is near by here and if It is raining too hard I will ask my DH to help us out! I know he will!

I hope that you will come and join Shari and fran and I in the ~A Pinch of This~!

Us Lady Bugs will be making an invasion! A good one for sure!

I hope that I have cheered you up a bite! Hugs, SusieK

Oh BB...I'm so sorry about Butter. We or it always seemed Me, had to make the decision with our first dog and our old cat. It's so hard. Just remember you've given Butter a happy and loving home, and he's given you a lot of love and memories....Special hugs..TJ

Oh Sis, I'm so sorry. Poor old Butter. My heart is aching for your family and what you are facing. As you know, I lost my little Chester when he was 16 and Charlie when she was 14...it was so very very heartwrenching. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Awwww BB I am so sorry to hear that Mr Dog is feeling poorly. It is hard to accept that they grow old in such a short span of time isn't it? There is a country western song by Allen Jackson, "It'll be Alright." One of the lines in the song is, "If my dear old dog never got old the family farm never got sold, it'd be alright" They do have medicines for dogs with arthritis now. I have seen some ads on tv. Maybe you could check with the vet. Though at 14 as you say this decision may be inevitable, but maybe it could make his last time more comfortable for him and your family. We will be here Beebs. So many of us have had to make this same decision and know how much it hurts. There is nothing we can say except we love you. MM

Hello MM! I was thinking of that comercial and wonder if we could use some of that medicine, when we feel sluggish! It sure made that dog spry, did'nt it! At first they had to lift the dog in to the car. Seriously, I know we cannot take pet meds, Just a nice wish! I wonder if dogs feel that good? SusieK

Poor BB, poor DH, and poor Butter. Try to keep in mind if it comes to that most painful decision, that it is harder on you and your family than it will be for sweet Butter. I remember my own DH crying when we had to take our little Chloe to the vet for that visit. I drove the car, and he wore sunglasses (!) all the way home crying, and then buried her out under our bridal veil bush. Sure do empathise with Kathey and her feelings about ever having another pet. Strange that I never felt that way about having human kids, but sure do about taking in a new puppy or kitty. All us petlovers will be holding all of you next to our hearts while you go through whatever evolves with your Butter.

Yes, we had some good old storms here last night as well! It was good to have the old DH home, safely snoring away! It's continued to rain all morning, so I have stayed in and loved being snug...of course, these days, living in my house is akin to living the life of a farm woman, feeding and watering the livestock every morning...and cleaning up the poop!

Love ya, Beebs. Seren

Patti, that was such a sweet post. I guess our litte black Scottie, Angus, and miniature schnauzer, Chloe, and Irish setter Kelly will all be there, tails wagging, too! Don't know if the kitties don't maintain their distance even there! Well, knowing the cats I've had, they would still be a little too snooty...>>smiling<
