A very special day

TJ and I finally got together for lunch. What a beautiful ladybug she is. So tiny and sweet with beautiful dark eyes and hair. We ate at a place called the Steamboat Inn. We sat on the deck outside right above the River. Prescott is a small town on the Wisconsin side of the St. Croix River and about 3 miles further west the St. Croix runs into the mighty Mississippi. As with nearly all small towns here the main streets have become store after store of antique & craft shops. The hardware stores, clothiers, meat markets and other businesses have all given way to the big chains. After lunch, I had chicken with a creamy lemon sauce on linguine and TJ had shrimp scampi, we walked around some of the shops. We looked and talked and suddenly I realized it was getting late. As we started back to our cars it turned dark and ominous where it had just been sunny. I had forgoten to bring my camera in the restaurant with me so we stopped at the car and went back inside to get our waitress to take some pix. When we got back outside the bridge crossing the river was closed and cars were backed up a long ways from both directions. We waited for a while in the parking lot and it wasn't raining yet but there was some thunder and lightening. I began to be afraid that I would not be able to get home in time to pick up the children at the bus stop if I waited for the traffic to clear. TJ would have to cross that bridge to get home but I did not. So I figured someone would be nice enough to let me squeese in between them and get out into the other lane that had no cars in it because they were all stopped on the other side. Thankfully I got out of the parking lot and on my way home with no trouble and then it started to downpour. By the time I got home it hadn't even started to rain here. Half way home I looked at the clock in my car and saw that it was only a little after 2. I pick the children up at 4. I was so mad. My watch was fast by 45 minutes. (I hardly ever wear a watch because I make them go crazy) We could have spent another hour together. I thought that the time had just flown by. I couldn't believe it was that late already and I was right it wasn't. I am sorry TJ. I bet you thought I was crazy when you got home and looked at the time.

Anyway it was a very special day and we are planning to do this regularly after school starts next fall. We found the nicest restaurant we want to use next time. The Courtyard Cafe and it looks wonderful. Out door seating in a beautiful garden setting. Very elegant. I can't wait to try it out.

Bug get togethers are always grand aren't they. MM

PS I forgot to say. Nanny Nanny Foo Foo. I got to see a picture of baby Allison. What a beautiful baby she is. Rosey cheeks and big smile and she looks a lot like her grandmother.

What a nice, vivid description of y our meeting. I do the same thing to watches. That chicken with lemon sauce sounds great. I suspected Allison looked like her grandmother from the posts. Since ds seems to be in no hurry to make me a grandma, I might join a local foster grandmother program at a local hospital.
