I had an dentist appointment next week, but have rescheduled it. So when we go back to the Cape on Sunday, I won't have to come home again until the 21st.
I could have stayed but the weather has been rainy. *Home* will allow me to do a little laundry and attend a graduation party Saturday night. I had hoped to do a little gardening as well, but ... .
Rudolph Day was a great success. I got so much gift shopping done!!! There are stores on the Cape and in other parts of MA called Christmas Tree Shops. They sell a little bit of everything. As with any off-price store, there's junk but there are good deals as well ... IF you know what you are buying. I found the BEST candle jar toppers ... same brand and styles sold in gift shops from $9.99-12.99 ... for $1.29 ... first quality ... in their original packaging. Needless to say I bought 12!
Then I was off to the Colonial Candle Outlet Store and bought candle jars to match each topper. These are not first quality but I made certain the ones I bought had only one defect ... the label on the side of the jar was missing. Who cares? LOL! The circular label on the bottom says Made in USA, gives burning/safety instructions, and lists the fragrance. The cost was $5.99 as opposed to $19.99 had the label been there.
So I have some cute little gifts all ready to go! Under $8.00 each for something that could have cost $30-35.00 each.
I bought tons of other *stuff*, too ... gift bags and fabric covered boxes. I'm getting there! AND I didn't buy one useless souvenir!
I feel so behind here! I do have some time while my DH is at the dentist, so I'll indulge and read the board.
Have a great day and I'll try to stop by each day until I'm off and running again.
Bye for now.

Those candle & toppers definitely make nice gifts. I am not sure what Rudolph Day is /was. I may have missed one of your posts. It is raining here again today- cloudy and cool. But, I am not complaining because the hot weather is so bad for DH. I am having periodontal work- no fun.
Hope DD is getting along better. We mothers never stop worrying. Do we? I think I am just as anxious as DS about his graduate school application. He's on the waiting list now, and I am debating wether I should call a few people I know at that University. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Was it ever so excting to meet Lanie? I am so hoping to meet someone before Savannah ... perhaps the NY contingency. I'm hoping to get to Manhattan this summer.
For all my gift shopping, I saw only one ladybug item which I actually bought for myself out of necessity ... flip flops covered with the little critters! They'll be great for the outdoor sand shower ... if we ever get to the beach.
Next week I'll shop the 6A side of the Cape and the lower end of 28 where the more unusual shops and *boutiques* are located. Maybe I'll see some ladybugs then.
Have a great day.

Check your e-mail later. Thanks so much!

I really like the Christmas tree shops, I
go there whenever we visit. I usually need an
extra suitcase to bring the goodies home in.
Enjoy your shopping and the Cape.

I wanted to know if you got my e-mail. I missed you the last time you were home but was not sure if you read e-mails any how? How far is the Cape from Albany? I hope that I can still meet you! Hugs SusieK
Albany is about 235 miles from mid-Cape. Boston MA and Providence RI are both about 165 miles and would be just off Interstate 95 and on your way home. I'll check your message and see what we can work out.
Bye for now.

I am much more selective about my purchases at Christmas Tree Shops these days, but when our DD was younger and when I had a classroom of first graders to buy for, I was their best customer.
Years ago everything was very inexpensive, too. Now they have both indoor and outdoor furniture and lots of housewares and food items that are attractive Cape to year 'rounders. It's still fun to poke around though ... and I never know when I'll find a great bargain as I did this time.
Bye for now.

Enjoy the rest of your "home" visit and I hope the weather improves on the Cape for you. Take good care...Susie
