e lot going on. Our yard needs attention, but this isn't going to be a weekend for that. It's tough on yardwork when the weekends are rainy and stormy, and then the sun returns on Monday for the week! Around here, that means we'll be needing machetes to hack our way out to the street!

Fortunately, there's always something I need to do inside...especially now with additional animals here on the homestead...I feel like a real Farmer Jane these mornings, what with feeding and watering, cleaning out the *barn* areas, and talking to each and every beastie! Emailed one of my daughters that I'm thinking we should get a couple head of cattle and maybe some ducks for the cement pond....The new cats are venturing out more now, and last night one of them played the piano for us. That was really a little eerie at first! We were reading, Maggie was semi-asleep, and suddenly: plink, plink, plinkety...Maggie jumped up, but the noise had stopped, and she settled back down. She has every intention of being a fierce watchdog for us, but she's not the smartest little pup. Persistence is, unfortunately (think barking..), her strong suit.

Older daughter is waiting to be called in on her job in Italy. She has notified them she's there, and they have to now set up a time when they can show her the ropes and get her started. Probably Monday. It's been good that she has a couple of days and a weekend to settle into her new digs, and to familiarize herself with the public transportation and so on. One important purchase she needs to make is a fan for her bedroom! It is very hot there, and no air conditioning anywhere. She's been very nervous about this job, is very intimidated by the people she'll be working with. Last summer her job was with a regular sort of law firm, up and coming, but not yet really big-time. This summer, she's with a very established international firm. She'll learn a lot, but the beginning is always tough. Her stomach gets tied up in knots when she thinks about it, but she knows what she wants to be doing, and this is the path she has to take. Hey, wouldn't it be great if they have air conditioning??!! Then she would enjoy putting in very long hours!

Younger daughter was on MTv in Rome yesterday!! Well, like maybe in a crowd scene! Not performing! but she was pretty excited about it. She and her friend were eating gelato in a park and there the crew was, filming something. I haven't heard the details, just a quick email, and she did say she found out then that she had a big bird poop on the back of her shirt!! She went to a fountain and tried to clean it off! She's also suffering from the heat, but seeing lots of interesting places and working on her Italian.

DH said last night regarding his recent trip: "I was wondering on the plane home, what in the world am I doing? I'm too old for this." LOL Poor guy. He was so tired and coming down with this killer cold. Travelling is exhausting. I think maybe the best way to go is on a cruise ship...altho I would love to have an RV! in another life maybe LOL

Well, duty calls, need to get busy. Hope you all enjoy your weekend. Seren

As to your message the other day;Yes Seren we did rent Vespas once when we were in Italy, but not in Rome. Small town can't remeber which one. Rome traffic was too scarey for me! When DD got her license at 16 we bought her a Honda Spree to get herself back and forth and all. We figured that was a safer form of transportation to give her as she couldn't have any passengers! That was before they passed the law that says 16 year olds can't have non-related passengers(of a certain age) in their car. Anyway, after DD graduated and moved to Seattle she didn't take the scooter with her right away and I would ride it around the island. Had a friend who had one and we would take them out just for fun. Nice way to cruise the country lanes on a nice day. KaCee

Poof!!! I'm gone!!

DH is right travelling gets awfully boring. One hotel looks like another after a while. I spend five years travelling across the country on a special project. At first, it was fun. Then it wasn't. My DH's schedule was flexible, so the best trips were when he came along and we took a few days to see the sights- like mud bath in Calistoga Spring in Calif. What fun.

Oh to be young and in Italy for the summer. Any chance you can get away and join them for a week or two?

OMG, I have missed so much! What animals are you taking care of at your farm? Please, don't keep me in the dark here.

Plus, I would appreaciate it if you kept the cloudy dampish weather there up in Ga. We finally received some sun and I would like it to stay for at least 48 hours. lol I always blame you, BB and Dannie for our bad weather. Sometimes I add Bren's name too, as well as Pab, but you GA girls are the real culprits.

Hope, just so you know, lots of very strong vibes are going from here to your DS as we wait to see how that waiting list goes!! I would send them directly to the school, but he'll just have to forward them on in that direction! Waiting is not pleasant, not for something you've worked hard for and you could use so well. A waiting list is so darned close...

One of my daughters is coming home next Thursday!! Can you believe it?? The date just jumped at me a couple of hours ago, and I called up DH and asked if he realized that. Well, he was as clueless as I'd been! Trying to keep up with what day it is is beyond me; I can usually get the month right, and am excellent with what year...LOL Sadly, the mind is going...The DD is always after us to come to Italy when she's there, but I figure she may very well be there the rest of her life, so if I want to see my grandbabies....grrrrrr. Yes, it isn't at all bad to be young and in Italy. LOL Even she admits it's fabulous, scary job or not!

So you and your DH are off on another little jaunt, this time to visit your dear friend in Florida. That's wonderful! Hope all goes smoothly and that you enjoy every bit of it. Seren

I can so picture you tearing around the country roads on a scooter, KaCee! DH, you'll recall, has a riding mower these days, and he and Maggie do enjoy tearing around the yard! LOLOL That's life here in the fast lane...LOL

Doing anything fun this weekend? It's still hot up there, isn't it? Get out that Spree...! Seren

Alas, the Spree is gone! And that was when I was about 12 years younger and 25# lighter! I think I would look pretty funny on that thing now. KaCee

Lanie, Lanie, Lanie, what am I going to do with you? You've been too busy running off to play in Delaware, or is it Maryland??? to keep up with my rustic life...LOL You do know I don't really live on a farm, don't you? It just seems that way these days. In addition to our always naughty Maggie dog, and sweet shy little cat Kit, our older daughter dropped off her 2 cats for the summer...and they are house cats....so it's a constant struggle to keep the four-legs from taking control from the two-legs!! I'm about ready to concede...

Hey, Miss Lanie! I'm not a Georgia peach!! I'm an Alabama...hmmmm...bale of cotton??? not so nice as being a peach, but there you go. The Georgia ladybugs probably have those wonderful accents, just dripping with sweetness. Mine is just ordinary. Well, imagine "win-dah" for window, and "pil-lah" for pillow, lots of "ya'll's" (frankly, I don't know how ya'll manage without ya'lls), and that's me. And, hey, I will say that I do send my weather directly on to Georgia, specifically right to Atlanta, and I do believe those bugs blow it north to the Carolinas. Now what Bren and Pab and SusieK do once they have it, well, I don't know. I have heard the air can get real heated up long about Washington, DC...(chuckle..) By the way, aren't you up close to New York, Long Island, New Jersey, one of those Northeastern places? I do believe then that Georgia and Alabama wouldn't be "up there" from you, would they? or is that one of those quaint little yankee expressions, as in "down East"?? LOL I'm just teasing ya here, Lanie!

Maybe you'll enjoy a sunny weekend, because for sure, it's going to stay wet here! Just stay out of trouble, won't cha? You know I can't wait to meet you...Seren

No, you wouldn't look at all funny! What's funny is a middle-aged man riding a lawn mower around the yard with his white fluffy dog riding along with him! Now's that's comical! Seren

Look forward to your posts. They always make me laugh, or at least smile a lot.

Yes, I know you do NOT live on a farm. It was, what is the word here, sarcasm just doesn't fit, so i know you will come up with the proper one. lol

Now for Alabama or Georgia, I did not realize you lived in Alabama. So glad you are not "over there" with those Georgia peaches. Guess, when you spoke of travelling to Sav, I just "assumed" you lived in GA. Now I had a dear nursing instructor who would say to us, "Ladies, nurses must never assume. To assume is to make an a- - out of u and me." I loved that lady, but do realize she did not coin that phrase.

Here is another tid bit (aren't I interesting?), I live below the Mason-Dixon line, IF it were to be drawn in a line across NJ.

Please don't stop needling me, 'cause I love it.

We need an artist for with your storytelling, we could have a regular comic strip about the Bug Lives (but that has been taken hasn't it?). Maybe a soap would be better. You certainly have a different viewpoint. I am glad you found us, Seren.
