Well, the plans changed again

If you remember, my parents were supposed to come for a visit last weekend, but postponed because of all the rain we (and they) had been having. Their garden was almost destroyed by all the flooding rains, and since last weekend was pretty and sunny, they wanted to stay home and get their garden back in order, and come visit us this weekend instead. Okay, fine.....

So this morning around 9:00, my mom calls and says, "Have you already gone out and bought a lot of food for our visit?" Yes, I had, but nothing that wouldn't keep. I had put the steaks in the freezer, and the potatoes would certainly keep. The salad makings that I bought, no problem there, I eat a lot of salad. And I have bought the ingredients to make Bren's toffee thingie, but hadn't made it yet. Same with Susie's breakfast casserole, all that stuff will keep.

So.........you know where I am going with this........my mom asked if they could postpone for one more week, the reason being that it is raining big time here and also in SC where they live. The interstate (I-85) they travel to get here was covered in green on the weather radar this morning, and flooding rains are precicted all day. "They" are telling people not to travel if they don't have to. It is a mess here in this part of the south.

My parents aren't getting any younger, and they do not like driving when it is bad weather like it is today. I don't blame them, it is a 2 1/2 hour drive, and in the pouring rain, on the interstate with all the big trucks and assorted nutzoids, it can be very stressful, not to mention downright dangerous.

So once again, I find myself with a clean house and no one but us to enjoy it. Oh well, no biggie, I can play on the computer today! And DH and I will go out for Mexican tonight. Who knows, maybe a Judith Light movie will be on the Lifetime channel.

Just wanted to come here and report the latest. You must think I have the flakiest family -- they are coming for a visit.....they aren't coming for a visit....they're coming.....they're not. LOL! Next weekend (unless we get more blankety-blank RAIN!), they will be here. That will be better anyway, as next weekend is Father's Day. That will be nice, to have my Dad here on Father's Day.

Okay, I am off to read the morning posts now. Have a good day, bugs. Sure hope the weather is nicer where you are. Those of you who are east of me......Bren, Strawberry girl, Pab, Jopenni in the sandhills......Look out! It's been raining here now for 19 hours straight, and there is no end in sight.

......BB

Geesh, the Eastern seaboard sure has had it's share of rain this spring. But you "griped" for the past couple of years about being so dry! See - be careful what you wish for!! I know, 'enuf already!'!!

Sure do understand about your folks not wanting to make that trip in the pouring rain - 'tis not a fun thing to do. Ah well, next weekend!

Does this mean I can't come to dinner tonight either, Beebs?! (LOL)

Hugs to everyone dealing with rainy weather, BB. It has been bleak here, too. After one lovely day yesterday, it is cloudy and drizzling. Sigh! I hope I NEVER hear the word draught again.

I think your parents are very wise to have postponed their visit. 2 1/2 hours can easily stretch to 5 if you're crawling along and struggling to see over the spray of tractor trailers.

I just finished a conversation with my mother. I think she is wishing she could travel more freely but Aunt Nellie who is 101 now depends on her for everything ... and there's no one else she can count on to help out. She hasn't been north to visit in several years.

Oh! Well! Guess I should start packing.

Have a good afternoon.

F.

"Assorted nutzoids" is it?? LOL I like that, have to remember it. Sorry 'bout your folks, but it would be nerve-wracking for all of you if they had driven down: them on the road, and you worrying about them on the road. But, geez, a clean house for no special reason??! Now that is a waste that I sympathize with! Remember last Thanksgiving when a crowd of my in-laws were descending on me for the long weekend? and DH and I cancelled plans to visit DD in NC? My house was polished to a faretheewell, and I had been cooking, baking, freezing for two weeks???? They called on Tuesday evening to say they wouldn't be coming, hoped I hadn't bought any food yet....bought the danged stuff? I'd bought and prepared enough for a huge Southern Thanksgiving....I was just a little bit growl-y with the old DH over that one!! But we went on to NC at the last minute, and I sure didn't have to cook for several weeks, and the thorough cleaning did the house no harm!

It's been pouring here as well. I do have housework still waiting on me...darn. I am so not in the mood. LOL Hope you find a good Judith movie. I ended up watching the entertainment channel a few minutes ago, about Britney and Justin!!!! LOLOL Better TV-luck to you! Seren

Oh, Seren, I DO remember that happening to you last year. You were fit to be tied, as I recall.

Do me a favor, will ya? All that rain you are sending my way....send it up to Janet instead. She has a use for it (prevention of ping-pong balls on the roof and munchkins tearing up her yard), I don't...lol

Have a great weekend, my friend......BB

Francine, I hope you have a good day too and a safe trip back to the Cape.

Been meaning to ask....how is your DD doing? Much better, I hope.

Hugs.....BB

Okey Dokey! You only had to ask, BB! What is that expression, "From my mouth to God's ear"?? We'll just see if She wants to pass that rain on up to Janet!

Fit to be tied...I'll say! The thought of it still makes the blood pressure want to creep up! LOL

How are all the animals?? Mine had me up at 6 am....on a rainy morning...a rainy *Saturday* morning...How sad is that? Seren

Homer started walking on me at 6:30 and Chipper (a.k.a., BIG) managed to jump up on the bed at 6:45, where he proceeded to sit down with his back to me and swish his tail over my face. He does that a lot when he wants to wake me up to feed him. Grrrrrr, but gotta love 'em.

Butter is getting around better, but still....well....old! Poor guy. But the new meds the vet gave him have helped a lot. His arthritis has gotten so bad, an aspirin just doesn't cut it anymore.

Have a good one.....BB

Glad to hear Butter is a bit better BB. If your vet suggested Remadyl for his arthritis I just wanted to let you know it worked well for Amber, she took it for a little less than a year. It's on the expencive side so I just gave her one in the morning (she slept like a rock so didn't really need it at night) that cut the cost in half. What we do for our fur babies,Patti

So you're feeling a little soggy, I'd guess. I don't blame your parents for waiting till the weather is kinder and just think how easy it will be to get ready for next weekend. and, as a bonus, you get to go out for supper and play on the computer .... lucky lady!!!

HAGW BB

hugs
