Heads Up! The remodeling has begun!

DH and I are deep into the bedroom re-do! I'm just taking a break for a minute as I was getting choked...We've removed old wallpaper, sanded the walls, now the painting is about to commence. Dusty choking work. Now should just be back-breaking...We have never hired anybody to do these things, except I can't sew, so someone has made curtains. We (DH!) do wiring, wallpaper, flooring, painting, deck construction....Someday, when we have money to burn....Gotta go! Break is over! Seren

Good luck, Seren. I admire you and your DH being able to do so much yourselves.

I have a feeling you're gonna have stories to tell over the next few days and weeks....;-)....

See you on your next break.......BB

Seren, your message reminds me of when dh and I remodled the

main bathroom, except it sounds as though you know what you

are doing, and we didn't! I thought we were going to get a

divorce. Two people in a small room for hours on end. Gosh

we are lucky we didn't maim each other. Good luck on the

re-do!

Gee whiz!!! He is back for a second and you have him rewiring, scraping and choking. Oh wait a minute, maybe that is you who is choking.

You two must be very handy and I sure admire that. DH and I usually hire someone else because anytime we do remodeling, we end up hiring someone anyway to fix what we did wrong. Remember, my DH is the one who spills the paint on the carpeting. He doesn't use drop cloths either! Oh dear, maybe that is why there are teeny white spots on our furniture. We are thinking of repainting some of the walls in our new place (I think we can do THAT), but the carpeting is burgandy over there. What do you think, should we use drop cloths?

Am I evil or what?? LOL Sneaking in here to the computer once again. One quick suggestion for you and your DH: forget the drop cloths and paint the walls burgundy!! Hey, how's that for sound advice?

DH is the brains behind all our remodeling; I'm his toadie...he tells me what to do and I do it: fetch cold drinks, wipe up that mess, cover that, clear that off, here you can paint this stretch of wall, hold this in place for me, more iced tea with lots of ice...Right now I have to go clean the windows...he really is a slave driver, very exacting.............grrrrr.....LOL.....but I do love the results, and this is the cheapo way. Gotta go. He's suspicious about the iced tea....LOL Seren

That advice sure is wacko! Did you hear me say we needed to lighten up the place? lol

You are much more gracious than I. When my DH starts giving all that advice, I get an "attitude". That is probably why we are bickering so much. lol

Ho, Lanie, did you say *lighten* up the place??? Oh, sorry. Well, back to the drawing board! No, I'm not so gracious with the DH; I've just learned that he does this stuff so well, I really don't, so I just go with the flow. He is such a workhorse, I really can't complain. Speaking of horses, we have finished for the day, or at least for awhile, and came out to watch the race on TV. Boy, that was exciting! I told DH we should have named Maggie "Ten Most Wanted". He says, no, more like "Second Most Not Wanted"....I mean, we find ourselves so funny! We had a decent chuckle over that...

Glad you found a bedspread. Your bedroom sounds pretty with those windows. I'm not a bit creative, and home decorating is not my "thing" at all. The only wild thing I've done is paint our living room what my daughters call "hot mama red"; actually I think it's called something like cranberry red. And I like it. I have found that when I worry about pleasing other people, I just can't do a thing. But if I just say, Oh, I think that could look pretty, and go with it, I'm happy enough, and the people who may think it's crazy are kind enough not to mention it to me! I do envy the people who enjoy decorating their homes, and have the courage to try things.

Our bedroom when finished will be pale yellow walls, yellow and white striped rod curtains, and I found a quilt (no surprise there, I'm wild about quilts) with yellow as it's main color for the bed, with a few yellow pillows to toss on the bed. For summertime, I found that white bedspread on sale the other day. Now if I can keep the clutter down in there!

BTW, we did use our drop cloth today, but still managed to get a few drops of paint on the carpet when we did the ceiling. My job, as junior scullery maid, was to clean that up. No problem, it came right up with water. We got the ceiling painted white (never knew it wasn't white til we painted over the old stuff!), and completed one wall that had a lot of trim. I'd like to get quite a bit done tomorrow, but DH will be back at work and he doesn't trust me to handle it...heh heh...I've got a good thing going here, Lanie! OK, that's my report. Hey, you know my littlest baby, the 20-year-old, is coming home on Thursday, don't you??!! I do hope this whole house isn't a big mess of furniture out in the hall, and carpet cleaning machine in the middle of the floor when she gets here! It's been nearly a year! I'm gonna look for something on TV after dinner, and maybe we'll relax. We'll see. Don't you and your DH get cabin fever being closed up with all that rain outside, and start the bickering!! Hey, have a cosmopolitan instead. Isn't that what Shari introduced you to? I've never had one either. I want to try that. OK, must go. Have a lovely evening with your DH. Seren

My late DH and I used to do all kinds of house projects together too. I don't miss stripping wallpaper, or putting up wallpaper, don't like doing that. I don't mind painting though. All the hard work is so well worth it though and I know you'll love your's when it's finished too...Susie
