Good Sunday morning all....have had the

most frustrating week....All I can say is it's a good thing I'm not licensed to carry a gun or you would probably have seen me on the news...."LI woman hijacks telephone truck and holds it and driver hostage...all she wants is her daughters phone service working.."

We did all the right things...called a week before the move to make arrangements for phone service in the new apartment...so easy....too easy. Someone lived there before and they assured me all they had to do was flip a switch in the office. How innocent and naive I was....Monday morning comes and we have no dialtone...call one and you go into this maze...now our local service provider is ATT...but the lines are owned by Verizon who must do the "repair work". After waiting and holding for 25 minutes I'm assured it will be taken care of by 5PM...This went on for four days...I spoke with supervisiors,I stopped drivers on the street, I spent endless hours on the phone..one call was 40 minutes, never spoke with the same person twice and even called my ex brother-in-law who works for Verizon...his only advice was call the Public Service Commission. On Thursday I spoke with an "esculation representative" at ATT...who more or less told me...they'll get to you when they get to you...unbelieveable.

So finally Friday morning I call the Public Service Commission and speak with a gentleman who listens to my story..gives me a case number..tells me to hold on a minute..and if I do not have service by Monday morning, call him back..I'm thinking "here I go again" but in a matter of minutes he has me connected with the Executive Office of ATT and a woman there, Betty Blake gives me her direct number..she assures me it will be taken care of by 5PM that day...."yeah sure I've heard that one before "..I wait all day for my DD to get home and when she gets home she calls me (on her cell phone) still nothing.

These companies use to have local offices where you could go...now the people you are talking to are out in Missouri..to far away for you to reach them physically...I figure well so much for the PSC...

Saturday morning my DGS had a baseball game at 8 AM...yes I was there with DH..so glad I went it was a great game and Remy has only been back playing a week....since the "broken nose" incident and at one point he got hit with a ball while at bat..I couldn't see where he was hit and didn't realize he was wearing a helmet with a face cage to protect his nose, so the old heart stopped for a moment..until I saw he was ok..he scored a couple of times and in the last inning he got a double..very exciting and fun

His Dad had brought him to the field and when my daughter got there I find out that she finally got phone service Friday night..she said the phone rang and it scared the life out of her...so the Public Service Commission is very effectual...they regulate all utilities and I highly recommend contacting them if you cannot get satisfaction from the company you are dealing with....wonder if I can get them to do something about the rain!!

I attended a awards ceremony Friday morning at DGS school with DH..Remy got a community service award...for spending time each week at the local adult home reading to the elderly there..the school brings them over for 2 hours each week...I was very proud of him...he's a really good kid.

Today is my sisters birthday, so I'll get over there to see her and probably spend some time with my daughter again today..we're still unpacking..

Cloudy and overcast today that's the forecast....what else is new.

Well I'm going to get myself moving....hope everyone has a nice day....and for those of you that have sun...get out there and appreciate it.

Val, you poor thing. Isn't it frustrating to go around and around with these large companies? I feel for you!

Congrats to Remy -- he sounds like a fine young man, all the way around!

Have a good day, Val.....BB

You need roller blades and an extra pair of hands, Val! ;-)

Other than the telephone scenario, it sound like you've been happily busy! Happy birthday to your DS.

Enjoy!

How frustrating, Val. I was wondering where you had been -- haven't seen a post from you for the past few days. Guess you were busy on the telephone.

If we have any problems getting hooked up at our new digs, I'll contact you. You are the one who can get problems solved. Have you noticed the new ruling about being able to retain your cell phone number if you change carriers? Supposed to be in effect Nov. 24. WELL -- can you imagine the chaos that is going to bring about? I think it is a good thing, but the cellular providers are not going to make it easy for us to transfer service with the same number.

Val, what a time you have had with the phone company.

I remember a movie about Big Brother, and it was the

phone company, lol.

Hope the rest of your week is good.

Hugs,

G'morning, Val! Glad the phone service is up and running. I agree wholeheartedly with what you said about the Public Service Commission, they provide excellent help. A couple of years ago we were *.....*, I forget the word, for when a phone company takes over your service without your authorization. There is a word for it and it happens fairly frequently. However, because we had a good plan with our previous company, this upped our bills by about 200%! Outrageous. And they kept saying we had authorized the change. I finally called the PSC; the woman there was so easy to work with, completely patient, helpful, polite. She took care of everything. The problem was solved. It took a couple of months for (Sprint) to get the idea, but I never had to do another thing. I, too, wish they could handle other problems, like the rain....LOL

Congratulations to Remy! He does sound like a great kid, a pleasure for you! Will you have some birthday cake today? DH and I were to go to a wedding this weekend, and were all set for some wedding cake....and the wedding was cancelled at the (very) last minute...DH said boy, that was too bad, he was really wanting some cake.....! That's my husband! Seren

I don't know if this works anymore but it did for me (twice). I ordered phone service and was told it would be on within three business days. The first time I told them I had a sick baby (she was 13 with a cold) and they turned it on within an hour. The other time I told them I was on oxygen and they turned it on immediately--I mean, don't we all breathe oxygen?

Congratulation to Remy. I wish the Brewers had a player like him.

Gee Val, I wish I could give you a big hug you sure do need one. I sure know how it is dealing with the utility companies. I remember when our telephone company sold out to Sprint and we suffered the consequence. And then they shut down all the local offices and we can only do business by phone now. Sometimes it takes as long as an hour to get a person on the phone. The automated system has driven me to tears many times. I now just act like I have a dial phone and wait on the line for an operator to answer the line. Because the automated system sometimes just sends you in a circle, and that is worse than waiting for someone to answer the call. Did you call the lady at the PSC back and thank her for her help. Many times people call and complain but not many remember to call back and thank them for the prompt service. If I stop at a carry out place and pick up food to take home and when I get home and there is something wrong with it I call and complain don't you? Well by the same token if I stop and get something and it is exceptionally good I call them and tell them that it was good. I think that if I ate it in the resturant I would tell the and just because I ate it at home it doesn't absolve me of the responsibility of paying them the compliment. Kindness doesn't cost anything and in the long run helps me feel better about myself as well. We were given homework at SS today. When we are saying our prayer for one day we can only be thankful for what we have we can't ask for anything. It was given out last week and some people said it was a hard thing to do. I didn't make it to Church last week so I am going to see just how hard it is to pray and not ask for things and just try to be thankful. It's not like I have to do it for a month or anything just for one day. Can't ask for anybody else either. Just be thankful. I do know I will have to put a lot more thought into my prayers to keep from asking for things for myself and others. You know just the simple things like peace and contentment but it is still asking this is going to be harder than I originally thought. How hard could it be I'll find out and let you all know.

Sorry about your DGS "nose" but glad it is better and he didn't get hurt Sat. and that he still wants to play ball and has a good time doing it sometimes when little ones get hurt they don't want to play anymore. Especially when it is as serious as a facial injury because they hurt so bad. I took a couple of fists to the face and had a broken nose and jaw and I know how badly it hurt and my hat is off to him that he is wlling to put himself in the path of danger once again. I know they put those helmets on them but they only protect them so much. Freak accidents happen all the time.

Hope you had a good time at you Sisters for her birthday. Is she older so you could rub it in that you are still younger or did you just tell her what to expect when she reached your age? I sometimes wish my sisters were closer so that I could make them aware of what was in store for them when they reached my age. I do know Arthritis runs in the family they just wouldn't have all the physical trama to go with it maybe I could whack them with a crutch or run over them with the wheelchair hehe. They are getting close to being old ladies themselves. The next to the youngest is 51 and the baby was just 49 last Dec so they are getting close. My sis just younger than me will forever be 42 because she died in 1989 and my oldest will be 63 on the 19 of July and I have a brother who is the same age but not a twin because he was born the 9th of Jan 44 and I was born the 14 of Sept of 44 I was one of a set of twins that lived(really). We were fraternal twins mom lost one at 5mons and they didn't know about me and they thought she wasn't preg anymore. She kept saying she felt preg and the dr said that was normal. Just go home and put her feet up and get some rest and take care of the baby she already had. So that is what she did. She kept gaining weight. She went back to the dr and he checked and said he didn't believe it but he thought she might still be preg did a check and sure enough there was still a baby in there. He had never seen anything like it before. Said she had a fighter there and sent her home a much happier woman than had come in the office at first. When she used to tell this story I used to wonder why she never seemed to care about me like she did the other kids. Then when she was dying she said she knew I knew she loved me and didn't feel it was necessary to tell me all of the time. The other kids needed the reassurance I didnt. I never understood that kind of reasoning but accepted it because she believed it and we didn't have too much time left. I have written a book once again when all I wanted to do was say hi. I could erase it but I won't I will share it with all of you and it can become part of the soap opera someplace. So hope you had a good day and have a good Sunday. Aloha Kulani
