The missing hand caper...

This happened at one of our large construction job sites on Thursday (I work for a commercial construction company)...

They were excavating with a large piece of equipment and the equipment operator got a real shock when he spotted a human hand amongst the dirt he had just scooped up. It wasn't bones...is was a fresh hand. They called the police who came out and roped off the area immediately. They started looking for the rest of the body and spent all day doing it. Our job site was closed down all day.

After much to-do, action, confusion, etc. etc....it was finally determined that the area was used for police dog training (using cadaver hands) and this hand had been lost in training recently!!! No one was told and wallah...our missing hand!!! LOL

Each job usually has a unique story connected to it...but this one takes the cake! LOL

Hi Patti and welcome to the garden. I don't get a lot of time to post here anymore...usually on Sundays when I do. I've been posting to this board for 3 1/2 years and have met some of the most wonderful people ever. Have made lifelong friends. Enjoy!

Hi Blu, Long time no talk. I have finally made it back to the Garden and find it full of new Bugs good thing we don't need benches ,hehe, and can just float around in mid air. How is Sonny doing? Good thing your guys didn't find any more body parts before the police fessed up to being careless about their playtoys isn't it. You never know when you start digging what you will find. But I can imagine the fear that went through the operater of the digger that found the hand. I watch a lot of the true crime shows on late night tv that reinact the finding of bodies and those people explain how they felt and they sure sound scared. It doesn't sound like anything that anyone would like to do on a regular basis. I hope the boss of your company read the riot act to the cops that were careless enough to go home leaving that behind because it could have been a child as easily as one of your crewmen that found that hand. Besides you guys lost a lot of money having to shut down the work site for the whole day and is the city going to pay for that, or compensate you in any way? If you had been careless and the city had been inconvenienced you would have been fined so you should be reimbursed in some way for the time lost and I think you should tell your boss I said so. Or give me his e-mail address and I will tell him myself. I feel real bossy today. Enough said Aloha for now Kulani

Now that's an amazing story for sure!! Imagine all the imaginations running wild thinking up all kinds of senarios as to whose hand it was and what happened to the person owning the hand!! You never know when something "unusual" will come along to "entertain" us..LOL!!

Gives new meaning to the saying, "Could you use a hand?" LOL!!....Susie

Hugs,

That is eerie. I often wondered how I would react if I found a "body". The closest I came was seeing a man in a fetal position in an alley last year when I was walking home from work. I call 911 and they wanted to know if he was sleeping. I told them I was not about to check. I gave them the address and kept walking.

What ever came of your mom's friend's daughter and the poison suspicion?

Sleep tight. Kathey

You know, this would sure make a good chapter in our soap opera! We can just tell the truth, which I think would be good, because truth *is* stranger than fiction. Or. We could really go to town embroidering on this particular storyline...LOL! I think I'm gonna spend some time now thinking about which actress I would want to portray me, and here we will let fiction be the order of the day! I'm thinking Demi Moore for me...LOL
